He is an American actor, best known for his role as the angel Misha Castiel on the CW television series Supernatural which he won a People’s Choice Award for Favorite TV Sci-Fi Actor.

 

Misha Collins has had recurring roles on the television series “ER” and “24,” and has worked on numerous other films and series. In addition, Collins recently directed an episode of “Supernatural.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Collins earned a BA in Social Theory from The University of Chicago, where he graduated with honors. Before turning to acting, Collins interned at the White House under the Clinton Administration and worked at National Public Radio headquarters in DC. He also worked as a carpenter and woodworker in New England’s Berkshire Mountains and built and designed his first home in Los Angeles.

He has 2.9 million Twitter followers and his Facebook fan page has nearly three million likes. He is also a published poet with works in “The Columbia Poetry Review,” “The California Quarterly” and other literary journals. A film Collins helped produce, “Loot,” won “Best Documentary Feature” at the LA Film Festival in 2008 and aired on HBO. He also wrote and directed the comic series “TSA America: Level Orange.”

Misha Collins founded and is the president of the non-profit organization Random Acts, which has built schools, orphanages, and mobilized people all over the world to participate in good works. Random Acts has raised over $30,000 for UNICEF, has raised money to empower underprivileged women and men in Nicaragua through education, and has helped the victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake rebuild their homes and communities. He also produces a cooking show with his son, “Cooking Fast and Fresh with West,” which has an ardent online following. In addition, Collins runs GISHWHES, the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt The World Has Ever Seen, which has helped him break seven Guinness World Records and has hundreds of thousands of participants in over 100 countries. Through GISHWHES, Collins has raised $264,596 this year to support 250 women with co-op farms and tools, has rescued four Syrian refugee families living in encampment in Lebanon, has protected over 40,000 acres of rainforest, and has saved hundreds of cats and dogs from shelters and global meat trade.

Misha Collins has spent several months in seclusion in monasteries in Yosemite, Tibet and elsewhere. He has run ultra-marathons, is a certified lifeguard, EMT and motorcyclist. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
