A fighter jet slams into a cliff. Jane is at her child’s practice when a helicopter arrives to pick her up. She enters the office and begins mobilizing her colleagues in order to obtain answers. When Joe tries to convince Jane to leave the situation, Jane finds herself going toe to toe with him. She claims that the chain of command will lead to her, therefore it’s preferable to complete the assignment on her terms. He agrees, but hesitantly.
Jane is irritated that she has to travel to the jail to pick up Kai after he is jailed for clashing with a cop. Jane informs him that everything passes through her, and she requests that he contact her if something similar occurs again. Lucy obtains information about the body from Kate, and when Kate discovers this, she goes to Jane. Lucy apologizes to Kate and kisses her, but they agree they can’t get back together or do anything with each other. Kai returns to the bar when Jane receives a significant lead in the case. Jane follows him into the ocean as he pursues the person he believes is responsible. They help each other out. Jane concludes by thanking Kai and inviting them all to dinner.
