Kilbride tells Roundtree he asked SecNav for this case because of his closest friend’s Japanese family’s treatment during WWII. Jack feels the attack was a hate crime. Captain Carlos Fuentes attests to Tanaka’s volunteer work at the armaments museum. Tanaka did some side carpentry. Deeks and Kensi suspect a deliberate attack. Sam and Callen inspect Tanaka’s diner. They discover “Go home, Jap” in red overpainted on a wall.
A wheelchair artist found a can of crimson spray paint nearby. They were left by Jason Quinn, who lives with Billy Strauss, whose family owned the failed cafe. Deeks and Kensi debate the race of child they would adopt. Kensi and Deeks cornered Quinn. Strauss’s house is a shambles. It was a cop breaking into their residence, Quinn added. Quinn denied attacking Tanaka. Jack may have taken Strauss. Jack’s pal, LAPD Detective Matt Guerraro, had reviewed the fingerprints’ records. Strauss and his father planned the attack. Guerraro leads them to Jack. Detain Jack and the Strauss. Kilbride visits Craig in the hospital with Jack. Jack risked his career by posting a video of the Strausses’ confessions to social media.
