‘NCIS’ Season 19 Episode 18 Recap

Dr. Grace (Laura San Giacomo), our beloved former undercover agent, has him in counseling sessions, where he’s nervously evading questions about his connection with his father and whether he’d like to devote himself to sobriety. Dr. Grace gently informs him that he has compartmentalized his trauma and takes it all around with him. Bishop is carrying a rucksack that is becoming too heavy due to his covert work, his daddy issues, and even his clandestine work. A triple killing is revealed to be the work of Reymundo Diaz (Joseph Melendez), a gun-runner who paid his way out of a life sentence in a Mexican prison and is now on the hunt for Carlos Salazar, the guy who betrayed him. Salazar is, of course, an alias for Torres, who first gained access to Diaz’s inner circle six years ago by dating Diaz’s cousin Maria (Mariela Garriga). Torres is no longer the only one in danger; Maria is as well. Maria consented to testify against Diaz only after Torres promised that he’d join her in witness protection, knowing well well that their happily-ever-after was a fake. Torres, on the other hand, has a full-fledged freak-out when he realizes Maria is in danger, which consists of intense pondering intermingled with shouting. They take Torres to a place in Maryland when he demands Maria’s location. Maria has been hiding behind a door with five locks, working as a telemarketer under the name Anita.

Torres drinks in the hotel room safe house and calls Dr. Grace at 11 p.m., telling her that he spent his entire life trying not to be his father, then turned around and abandoned someone he cared about, just like his father. After that, he hears a disturbance in the hallway and hangs up.  Torres wants to inspect her for injuries right away, but the only blood on her came from her assailant. Maria wants to leave right now, but Diaz has been diagnosed with rare cancer, and he’s spending his dying days on this planet annihilating the rats who turned him in. McGee (Sean Murray) and Parker (Gary Cole) are dispatched to Diaz associate Pablo Silva’s mobile home, where they discover the marshal’s bruised and tormented body. They believe Silva obtained the location of the safehouse from him, but it’s too late to tell Torres. Gunfire erupts in the hotel corridor as he and Maria struggle to flee. Torres and Diaz trade bullets in the hallway, as Silva slips into the hotel room. Torres successfully outflanks Diaz and kills him with a single headshot. Then he knocks again and enters the hotel room, where Silva is dead and Maria is cowering in the bathtub. Torres leads Maria to her apartment, where she cheerfully bids farewell to her life as Anita, now that the threat to their lives has been removed. Torres claims he’s taken Maria out of his backpack and that they’ll be good pals for the time being, back in class with Dr. Grace. However, seeing her again triggered feelings he doesn’t deserve, and he tells Dr. Grace that he needs to concentrate on becoming the man he wants to be, beginning with sobriety.
