In this episode of NCIS, Katrina Law plays Jess Knight, who saves a mother and her son from a car crash and becomes an inadvertent hero. She becomes an overnight sensation after being branded “Wonder Woman” by the media. Reyna Vargas (Adriana Ducassi), a lady she rescued, later disappears from the hospital, and it is discovered that she was an undocumented worker compelled into going undercover for the DEA to bring down the Serrano cartel. Jess promises Reyna that she will find her and keep Adam (Elias Janssen), her kid, safe after he is left in her care.

With Reyna missing and DEA agent Daniel Tanner dead, the crew sets out to find out what happened. When Jess and her colleagues investigate, they find evidence implicating the Serrano cartel. They track down Raymond Frank (Scott Lawrence), the DEA’s chief of operations and the real killer behind Tanner and Mateo Serrano’s deaths. Reyna eventually becomes a naturalized citizen, and she and Adam leave after Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) promises to look after Jess. Adam also presents Jess with a recording device, on which is included a news report in which evidence of her bravery is included.
