NCIS Season 21 Episode 4 Recap
Derek Bailey (Lizzie Mcguire and from Cory in the House’ star Jake Thomas), who is dating Tanya (Carson Fagerbakke), is getting ready for his third try to ask her to marry him at Shenandoah National Park. But Derek suddenly disappears before he can ask Tanya to marry him. She is left confused and angry.
Tanya knows Derek has trouble keeping commitments, so she waits 72 hours before telling the police that Derek is missing. She knows that the police won’t look into it until then. Because of this choice, a series of shocking facts about Derek’s past and the real reason he went missing are revealed to the NCIS team.
Derek had access to plans for a top-secret stealth submersible, which the team finds out while they are looking into his absence. This new information makes people wonder what happened to Derek and whether anyone from outside the family was involved.
As the team looks into it, they find Bold Ventures, a business that provides extreme scary or fantastical experiences. It turned out that Derek had signed up for a three-day kidnapping experience as part of his very busy plan to propose. But things get scary when the team finds the body of a Bold Ventures worker. This shows that Derek’s theft wasn’t part of the plan.
More research shows that Derek just recently found out that he is the son of Ron Davenport, an extremely wealthy investor played by Alastair Duncan. Davenport gets a demand for Derek’s ransom, so he has to find him quickly before the ransom is paid.
Even though the team tries to stop him, Davenport pays the fee because he is afraid for Derek’s safety. In an unexpected turn of events, it turns out that Derek’s girlfriend Tanya planned the whole kidnapping as part of a plan to steal money from Davenport.
Tanya’s tricks are found out, and Derek is reunited with his dad. The episode ends on a sad note, with Derek thankful that he is safe but heartbroken over Tanya’s mistake.
In addition to the main plot, the episode also looks at how Torres and Parker interact with each other since they have to keep living together because Torres’ room has black mold. Fans of the show will find the episode interesting to watch because it has a mix of suspense, drama, and comedy.
