The official trailer for Netflix‘s upcoming live-action movie City Hunter was just released. City Hunter is based on Tsukasa Houjou’s manga of the same name, which came out in series form from 1985 to 1991. This new version takes place in modern-day Shinjuku, Tokyo. The movie is set to come out on April 25 everywhere.
The new trailer gives us a sneak peek at the movie’s story and shows the Angel Dust drug. It also gives us a longer preview of TM NETWORK’s “Get Wild Continual” theme song, which fans will love since the teaser last month only gave us a hint of its famous tune. There will also be a lot of new footage for viewers to enjoy, as well as an exciting mix of action and comedy.
The film’s synopsis, provided by Netflix, reads:
After receiving the message “XYZ, please find my sister,” Ryo and his partner Hideyuki go on to search for Kurumi, a famous cosplayer. Meanwhile, mysterious violent incidents are taking place in Shinjuku, and Saeko, a skilled police detective is having a tough time solving these cases. Ryo and Hideyuki work in tandem to pursue Kurumi, but tragedy strikes when Hideyuki is killed during the investigation. Witnessing her brother’s death, Kaori implores Ryo to uncover the truth behind the incident.
The movie is directed by Yuichi Sato, who is known for “Na mo Naki Sekai no End Roll.” Tatsuro Mishima, who wrote the script for “Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead,” brings the story to life. The cast includes Ryohei Suzuki as Ryo Saeba, Masanobu Ando as Ryo’s partner Hideyuki Makimura, Asuka Hanamura, Fumino Kimura as Detective Saeko Nogami, Misato Morita as Kaori Makimura and Isao Hashizume.
