Netflix has confirmed a new Female-driven series Maid, which is inspired by Stephanie Land’s New York Times best-selling memoir Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive.
Maid is a story about a single mother who turns to housekeep to—barely—make ends meet as she battles against poverty, homelessness, and bureaucracy. Told primarily through her point of view, Maid will be a beautiful, alive, gritty, and inspiring exploration of poverty in America.
Molly Smith Metzler is the writer of Maid which is well known for its best series Shameless, Orange Is the New Black. Metzler will exec produce alongside Wells and his JWP topper Erin Jontow. Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Brett Hedblom of Lucky Chap Entertainment will also exec produce alongside Land.
