New Amsterdam team will be dealing with some extremely intense stuff in episode 17, as they continue to feel the heat of their massive night out on the town’s effects. Whatever mystery caused all of these disappearances in episode 16 and left Helen laying on the floor was the actual twist of the hour! That was a fantastic cliffhanger and a fantastic way to draw us in. It seems that Helen will be ok.

The night out at the bar is organized by Dr. Elizabeth Wilder (Sandra Mae Frank), and everyone gets a turn on the stage. Dr. Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery) and Casey Acosta (Alejandro Hernandez) and Dr. Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) and Dr. Iggy Frome team up for a duet, as do Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) and Dr. Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine). Dr. Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman), a London visitor, performs a solo. But it isn’t all fun and games. Helen, Wilder, Casey, Trevor Vaughn (Ryan Faucett), and Dr. Mia Castries (Genevieve Angelson) are all missing at the end of the episode the next day.
The entire gang paries and becomes hela drunk together while doing karaoke and other activities, most likely making bad judgments. Helen arrives, and Max is eager to accompany her back to the hotel. Wilder still wants to get out, so she uses a dating app to set up a date with a guy after a couple more drinks. The next morning, everyone is hungover. Max is stuck there for two more weeks before his next big scheme since Veronica cancels the board meeting to go out of town. He and Lauren work in an urgent care facility. A man comes in and lies about who he is and how he got an antenna trapped in his body. Ben is concerned since he has yet to hear from Wilder, and she is running late. Lauren makes a wager with Casey in the hopes of gaining his forgiveness.
After dropping by the karaoke night, Casey runs across an old army comrade. He notices that his pal is depressed and high. Ronnie begins to drive at a high rate. They get into a different vehicle. Lauren is concerned because it is the following day and she has yet to hear from Casey. The enigmatic patient, who constantly changing his name, is now attempting to scale the structure. When the guy she’s into tells her that his girlfriend is coming home early and they won’t be able to meet up, Mia becomes drunk. She assists Floyd in de-escalating his anxiety, but then she goes to the pier to meditate. She sobs and rises from the bench, her gaze falling over the bannister. Max takes a risk and walks out onto the brink to save the man. Mia is also absent from work. While they’re both inebriated, Trevor flirts with Iggy.
Gladys interrupts him and asks whether he knows what he’s doing. Iggy and Trevor go for a walk and speak about how they miss the spontaneity in their lives, and Trevor teases Iggy about how she can reclaim it. Claude informs Floyd during surgery that he has received a job offer as Chief in Colorado and that he and Lyn will be relocating there. Trevor never came in, Iggy discovers. Gladys is curious as to what transpired after they left the bar. Max informed Wilder that he is about to propose to Helen. He intends to propose, but she falls asleep before he exits the restroom.
Flod hears from Dr. Claude Baptiste (Andre Blake) that he and Dr. Lyn Malvo (Frances Turner) will be relocating to Denver, Colorado, where he has been offered the job of chief of surgery. Soon later, Lyn informs Flod that the baby is his, further complicating the tangled scenario that has developed as a result of their relationship and her and Claude’s open marriage. They’re all puzzled as to why half the workers didn’t show up. Helen also failed to appear, and we find her comatose on the floor. Helen, Wilder, Casey, Trevor Vaughn (Ryan Faucett), and Dr. Mia Castries (Genevieve Angelson) are all missing at the end of the episode the next day.
