Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Episode 14 Recap: The Last 9 Days
The head of the Zero Division, Ichibe Hyosube, first informs Ichigo about the Soul Reapers’ frailty as a result of a millennium of peace. He warns that Ichigo lacks the tools necessary to defeat the impending menace, Yhwach. As the Sternritters gather, Yhwach surprises everyone by declaring that Uryu Ishida would take over as leader.
The Sternritters are upset by this choice because they feel Uryu is unworthy of such an accolade as a novice. Then, Yhwach provides Uryu his blood, letting him know that he is the only Quincy from the Auswahlen still alive and that Uryu’s powers are about to emerge.
In a different plotline, Ichibe transports Ichigo to a realm inside the Soul King Palace, where Ichigo must pass a test in order to gain new abilities. However, Shunsui Kouraku has expressed concern regarding Ichibe’s motivations. Ichigo’s companions in the human world are visited by Kouraku, who highlights the dangers by warning them of what might happen if Ichigo were to return with lethal abilities.
In the meantime, Yhwach and his troops launch an invasion in Seireitei, enclosing the area in a foreboding dark bubble. As the destruction starts, panic breaks out as it becomes clear that Yhwach plans to finish his earlier assault. The readings keeping watch over the area show anomalies, alerting to a problem. Seireitei is entirely engulfed in a dark bubble as Yhwach shares his understanding of Kaiser Gesang, the Quincy king who is imprisoned. He argues that the legend’s final nine days refer to the period of time left before the end of the world. Sternritters march with determination as Yhwach gives Haschwalth and Uryu orders to follow him.
