[Season Finale] Perry Mason Season 2 Episode 8: Perry, Della, and Paul Team Up
Perry Mason Season 2 Episode 7 Recap
In episode 207 “Perry Mason,” Camilla Nygaard portrays her as a monster. The monster may be vanquished, but that’s not the end of the narrative. In order to stop Camilla’s blackmailer from pressuring the out-district attorney Hamilton Burger (Justin Kirk) Perry, and his team, together with Camilla’s lawyer Phippsy, track down her trove of damaging images on all of Los Angeles’ big players. They also prevent Della from extorting money from them by making sure no one sees the photos she took of herself and her female friend Anita.
Pete and Perry finally meet, and Pete admits to Perry that he was the one who broke into Mason’s safe. They have a quarrel, makeup, and Pete ends up aiding Perry in his investigation. Both Della and Paul have decided not to collaborate with him. Lydell and Camila visit with Japanese government representatives. When Della goes to see Burger, he admits that he was coerced into making the plea agreement with the brothers. Mom pays Mateo a jail visit and breaks the news that Rafael got into art school.
With Perry’s permission, Burger can negotiate a plea bargain on the Gallardo brothers’ behalf. Mateo, who fired the fatal shot at Brooks McCutcheon, is given a life sentence without the possibility of parole, whereas Rafael, who is talented in the arts, gets released from prison. Della is treated like a hero and given a hero’s welcome on the courthouse steps at Perry’s urging. Lydell McCutcheon, the family patriarch, is currently stuck in Japan after the FBI discovered his and Camilla’s illegal oil trade with Japan. Lydel’s secret is discovered by Perry and Pete after they hide away on a McCutcheon ship. The oil he sold to the Japanese was dumped at sea after being disguised as agricultural products and then transferred from his ship to a Japanese vessel. They continue their surveillance with Paul’s wife in tow. After that, they go to a nearby suburb.
Della learns that both Brooks and another someone has been called to testify. With his data in hand, Perry confronts Lydell. He admits he’s not behind the lynching of Brooks. Camilla receives a set of photos of Della. The prisoner Rafael goes back inside. Burger hands in his proposal. Despite these successes, the murder plot’s higher-ups, including Camilla and Phipps, are let off the hook and never even have to face justice.
