The third episode of Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 4, titled “Bygones,” set the stage for major confrontations, balancing personal and business conflicts within the Thomas family. The episode started with a murder and ended with an awkward family dinner, pushing each character further into their own struggles.
UNIQUE’S REVENGE PLAN BEGINS
Unique (Joey Bada$$) is back, but no one knows it yet—at least, not anyone who can talk. His plan to sabotage Raq (Patina Miller) and Kanan (Mekai Curtis) is working smoothly so far. He’s stealing product and money, getting back what he feels was taken from him. More importantly, he’s setting himself up for a comeback while slowly dismantling Raq’s operation.
However, Unique isn’t just looking for money—he’s driven by revenge. He blames Raq for everything that happened to him, and now he’s determined to ruin her. As soon as someone realizes he’s alive and shares that information, his presence will shake up the entire game.
RAQ AND LOU-LOU TRY TO RECONNECT
While Raq focuses on her business, she unexpectedly shows up at Lou-Lou’s (Malcolm Mays) sobriety meeting, something no one would have predicted. After their fallout in Season 3, it seemed like their relationship was beyond repair, but Lou-Lou’s journey to sobriety has changed him.
For years, Lou-Lou buried his pain under alcohol, much of it stemming from his toxic relationship with Raq. Now, with a clear mind, he’s working on rebuilding himself, and his conversation with Raq suggests that, deep down, he still wants some kind of relationship with her. Whether Raq truly wants to fix things or is just keeping an eye on him remains to be seen.
MARVIN LIES TO RAQ
Marvin (London Brown) has made progress in controlling his anger and becoming a more stable version of himself, but that doesn’t mean he’s stopped making questionable choices. This episode proved that Marvin still struggles with telling the truth—especially to Raq.
He straight-up lied to Raq’s face about something major, which could lead to serious consequences down the line. Knowing how ruthless Raq can be when betrayed, Marvin is playing a dangerous game.
KANAN AND KRYSTAL MOVE IN TOGETHER
Kanan is making choices that could cause him more trouble than he realizes. He and Krystal have moved in together, which might seem like a fresh start, but the reality is much more complicated.
Krystal is sharp and understands Kanan in a way few others do, but that doesn’t mean this living arrangement will be smooth sailing. Kanan is still figuring himself out, and moving in with someone this early in his journey could add more chaos to his already unstable life.
JUKEBOX EMBRACES HERSELF
One of the standout moments of the episode was seeing Jukebox (Hailey Kilgore) finally comfortable in her own skin. Throughout the series, Jukebox has struggled with finding a space where she can truly be herself. She never doubted who she was, but that didn’t mean she always felt safe expressing it.
Leaving the Army was the right choice for her, as the environment was toxic, filled with homophobia and violence. Now, she’s in a place where she’s learning to prioritize what she wants. This could be the season where Jukebox finally starts figuring out her path, whether it leads to law enforcement or something entirely different.
JOYCE’S ILLNESS SHOCKS THE FAMILY
The most emotionally charged moment of the episode came during the family dinner from hell. Raq, Marvin, and Lou-Lou all gathered together, and that alone would have been awkward enough. But then, their mother, Joyce, dropped a bombshell—she’s dying.
This revelation hit Raq particularly hard. Despite their complicated relationship, hearing that her mother was sick left Raq visibly shaken. Joyce has never been the nurturing type—she has spent most of her life criticizing and belittling her children. But even with all the pain between them, the news was overwhelming.
Raq isn’t someone who lets her emotions show easily, but in this moment, we saw real vulnerability from her. She may not have a loving relationship with her mother, but impending death is a different kind of weight to carry.
UNIQUE TARGETS O-CEE
The episode hinted at another brewing conflict—Unique setting his sights on O-Cee (Sahr Ngaujah). We don’t know much about him yet, but if Unique has him in his crosshairs, it won’t end well for O-Cee. Unique is unpredictable and willing to go to any lengths to get what he wants, meaning O-Cee is either about to get tortured, killed, or both.
