Game Play
We meet three new contenders for each episode. The first round is identical to 1983–86, except that there are three questions instead of four. The maximum money amounts are $3,000—4,000—5,000 in the first Big Board round and $6,000—8,000—10,000 in the second. Win up to $50,000 in cash! End-of-Big-Board-Round High-Scorer Advances to Bonus Game The contender in the lead takes one spin at a time until a clear winner is determined. If two of the three contestants have four whammies each, the remaining contestant advances to the bonus round. If all three participants have $0 but did not crash out, the tiebreaker is open to all three. Season 3 introduced Lead Plus One Spin Landing on this spot earns the candidate $1 more than second place.
Bonus Game
In the bonus round, the winner faces the Big Board alone and can win up to $1 million. There are five rounds, each requiring the champion to spin five times without stopping: five in the first, four in the second, and three in the rest. Each of the first four rounds adds prizes to the Big Board, including a luxury car or a dream trip worth over $150,000 for the winner. Whammies wipe out the champion’s bank, but not their main game winnings; any rewards in the bank are restored to the Big Board. If the winner collects four Whammies, the bonus game ends. The maximums are $10,000, $25,000, $50,000, $75,000, and $100,000. The prize pool grows with each round. If the champion hits an extra spin spot, it must be taken that round. To cease playing and keep all winnings, a champion must end the round with a bank total of $0 or higher. If a round ends with $0, the next one starts instantly. Upon stopping or completing all five rounds, the winner wins all cash and rewards in the bank. If the bank reaches or above $500,000, the bonus game ends and the sum is increased to $1 million.
“Press Your Luck” is produced by Fremantle. John Quinn is the showrunner and executive producer; and Jennifer Mullin, Elizabeth Banks, and Max Handelman are also executive producers.
