Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 8: Recap

The episode starts with a lot of tension because Jared Lennox’s presence is still having an effect on the firehouse. Lennox (Wesam Keesh ) had been making trouble by making false complaints about the team. He has now been moved out, but his actions will still be felt.

As the team gets ready for the day, they get a call from a dialysis center where several patients are having problems like breathing and passing out. Lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo ) takes charge. She quickly looks around the scene and sees that smoke is coming from a supply room. She tells everyone to leave the building and calls for help because she thinks there might be a problem with dangerous materials.

As things get worse, Lieutenant Kelly Severide  (Taylor Kinney) and the team are told to go into the building to find out where the smoke is coming from. Even though there are risks, they find and put out the fire, which stops a possible disaster. Kidd recognizes Charlie, her old training teacher, as one of the patients at the center. This makes the call more personal.

Following the event, Kidd and fireman Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) go to Charlie’s house to check on him and find him in very bad shape. In spite of the dialysis treatment he has been getting, they find out when they get him to the hospital that his kidneys are fine. It turns out that Charlie was given the wrong diagnosis by a doctor whose ethics were iffy and who was making money off of treatments that weren’t needed.

In the meantime, Chief Boden and Paramedic Chief Robinson are getting more and more angry with each other as their power struggle heats up. Boden finds out that Robinson put Lennox at the fire station to hurt his chances of becoming temporary Fire Chief. Robinson’s actions are making Boden angry, so she confronts her. The argument that ensues causes Robinson to be removed from the running for chief post.

Back at the station, Carver sees that firefighter Derek Gibson (Rome Flynn) is acting strangely and thinks he might be using drugs. His suspicions are confirmed when Gibson’s behavior gets more and more crazy, leading to a fight where Gibson says he has a drug problem. Gibson agrees to get help for his problem with the help of his coworkers.

As the episode comes to an end, the effects of Lennox’s actions are still being felt. Boden decides to kick Lennox out of the firehouse, but not before giving him some tips on how to protect his own future. Robinson, who is no longer in the running for power, swears payback against Boden, which sets up a future fight.
