The four young actors’ careers took off after the performance. Elva Guerra plays Jackie, Sarah Podemski, Jon Proudstar, Gary Farmer, and Dallas Goldtooth play other characters in Reservation Dogs. Zahn McClarnon plays Big, Gary Farmer, Jennifer Podemski as Willie Jack’s mom, Bobby Wilson as Jumbo.

Elora is sitting next to her sick grandmother. Willie Jack, Bear, and Cheese are among the people who gather at Mabel’s house. Teenie, Elora’s aunt, also comes home. Since Elora’s mother, Cookie, died, she hasn’t been around. Now that she’s here for Elora, she tells she should have been there sooner. Jackie also stops by to help Elora, but the other Rez Dogs aren’t able to accept her yet. Jackie starts asking Cheese to admit that he doesn’t like her. He doesn’t. He’s not meant to, at least. But he says, “Life is short.” She might not be so bad. After all, she is here for Elora. At Mabel’s house, Bear meets up with the soul warrior. He wants to know why Bear is there. He tells his friend that he wants to be there for him. But the spirit isn’t sure if Elora knows that if Bear won’t tell her. Teenie and Big talk outside or think about how strange it is that death helps bring together. They tell each other that they are here for Elora. Bear’s meeting with the ghost doesn’t say it, but you have to wonder: Does Elora know that? Elora seems to be mostly quiet at the get together. She listens to tales about her mom and Mabel and accepts condolences when they are given. Jackie asks at one point if they are going to go back to California after all this. Elora says, “Yes, they are.” But Elora is surprised when Teenie tells her that she will get Mabel’s house when Mabel dies. She can keep it or sell it and leave, like Teenie did when Cookie died and he had to leave. Mabel dies that night. Elora can’t stand being inside with everyone, so she runs out and starts crying. She hears, “Hey, shitass.” When she turns around, she sees the spirit of her grandmother. Mabel informs her granddaughter that she did well today and not to sell her dish set or she’ll come back to haunt her. Elora laughs as the ghost of Mabel moves away.
