In the first scene of episode 7, Nathan Dean’s character Max is seated inside an alien symbol, gripping his alien sword. He and Maria (Heather Hemmens) are interacting inside her mindscape, where she has him imprisoned. He threatens to put her in a coma until she gives him the memories he needs, but Maria seems unfazed. Meanwhile, Liz (Jeanine Mason) is putting in every effort to assist Maria. Isobel (Lily Cowles) and Michael (Michael Vlamis) arrive with coffee and the awful news that Jones’ body is stuck in the pod and is wandering around inside Max’s. Jones is able to stay in Max’s body because he kills people with his sword and charges himself up. Liz, Michael, and Isobel devise a scheme to provide the alien inhibitor to Jones in order to detach him from the sword. Isobel persuades the deputy to track down Jones, which he accomplishes just as he is ready to murder a man in order to gain more control.
Eduardo Ramos (David DeSantos) is seen removing a shackled Alex (Tyler Blackburn) from the back seat of his car. Alex giggled, unable to believe he has survived the Afghan desert and is ready to be killed in the desert outside of Roswell. Ramos uncuffs Alex and says it’s time to talk as he unlocks the barn doors. Kyle (Michael Trevino) is hooked up to machinery in a hospital bed inside the barn, and Eduardo explains what happened when Kyle activated the SOS. Rosa seeks assistance from Michael regarding her newfound ability. He discovers she has the ability to detect specific frequencies and could assist them in locating the sword.
Jones is enticed to Wild Pony by Liz and Isobel, who is hosting a Maria fundraiser. Rosa hears Jones and leads Isobel and Michael to the sword while they are there. Liz stays behind with Jones, who advises that they depart and look into Jones’s DNA in order to assist Maria. Ramos explains the Lockhart machine to Alex, including the fact that it was discovered in Caulfield. He eventually leaves Alex with a Caulfield folder containing the Lockhard activation date of March 11, 1969, which he had previously hidden from him.
Jones tells Liz at Max’s that he’d been played all day. Liz attempts to flee, but he catches up with her. When Isobel and Michael arrive, it is revealed that Michael is Jones’s son. Michael and Isobel are powerless to disarm him, but in doing so, Michael uncovers a horrifying fact.. Jones is the dictator, hence he’s Michael’s dad! Jones is unconcerned about familial ties, and he prepares to murder Isobel and Michael, confirming that he has killed enough humans to be virtually unaffected. Liz tries to stop Jones by threatening to not help him if he murders them. Liz is well aware that Jones requires her research abilities, and she is a valuable resource because no other scientists have worked on alien DNA. Rosa arrives just as Jones is ready to murder Isobel and Michael, and shoots him. Jones picks up the sword and stands up, declaring that even a lanky drug addict wielding a pop gun won’t be able to stop him. Jones spots lights headed his way as Rosa admits she has phoned the cops. Max’s cover as Max will be shattered if he kills Isobel or Michael. Jones leaves with a “till next time” warning before the cops arrive.
Liz and Michael rush to the hospital, relieved to see Maria is still in bed, plugged into the machines. Jones has grabbed the pod containing his body, which is bad news for Isobel and Rosa. Alex converses with Kyle’s vegetative body, wanting Kyle would wake up so they could converse. The initial activation of the Lockhart machine was on March 11, 1969, according to the Caulfield report. Jones eludes capture and, after killing Deputy Pete, enters Maria’s mindscape, his blade powerful enough to pierce the jail’s bars. Maria is transported back in time to March 11, 1969, and is compelled to replicate what her grandmother was doing at the time.
