Ryan Murphy has already given us shows like American Horror Story, American Horror Stories, and American Crime Story. But now they don’t stop here and want to anthologies us with more collections. Now American Story universe is expanding further with the greenlight of two new spinoffs. In addition, FX has officially confirmed to greenlight American Sports Story and American Love Story, with Murphy and his executive producer. Team Brad Falchuk is a spin-off of Two More Stories from Nina Jacobson. and Brad Simpson.
American Love Story, as the title suggests, will be centered around love. Specifically, the true love stories that grabbed the world’s attention. Season 1 will be about the courtship and marriage of John F Kennedy Jr and Carolyn Bessett.
“What began as a beautiful union for the young couple, widely regarded as American royalty, began under the strain of the relentless microscope and navel-gaze of tabloid media,” reads a plot description. “The pressure of his career and rumored family feud ended with his tragic deaths when his private plane crashed into the ocean on a foggy summer night off the coast of Massachusetts.” Ryan Murphy, Falchuk, Jacobson, Simpson, and Alexis Martin Woodall will serve as executive producers for both Sports Story and Love Story.
American Sports Story will be a limited anthology series focusing on a major event involving a sports figure. The first season podcast will be about Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. and will chart the rise and fall of NFL star Aaron Hernandez. According to a press release, the season will further explore “the connections of disparate aspects of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide, and his legacy in sports and American culture.” Stu Zicherman will lead American Sports Story Season 1 as a writer and executive producer.
