Netflix’s latest true crime series, AMERICAN MURDER: The Subject for LACI PETERSON is one of the most celebrated and intense cases of the early 2000s: the mysterious disappearance, and subsequent murder, of 27-year-old Laci Peterson, who was eight months pregnant at the time. Laci’s story became an object of nationwide interest insofar as journalists focused on her case and the subsequent arrest and conviction of her husband, Scott Peterson for her murder.

How Did Scott Peterson and Laci Rocha Meet?
Laci and Scott Peterson began dating when both of them had been attending California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. Laci was focussing on ornamental horticulture while Scott was business agricultural major. They met once during a party; they met again, or so the story goes, at Pacific Café, Morro Bay, where Scott was to be found waiting on tables. Laci took the lead by offering Scott her phone number and thus the two started dating.

Who Killed Laci Peterson?
The main suspect in the case was Scott Peterson who was accused of killing Laci Peterson and their unborn child, Conner. In an effort to get a new trial, his lawyers have been trying to prove for some time now that Laci was murdered by a different man, probably during a break-in. But in 2022 in an appeal they wanted a new trial but a judge dismissed their plea arguing that the prosecution has a wealth of evidence against Scott. Currently, Scott is incarcerated at Mule Creek State Prison in California, where he is fulfilling his sentence.
