[Series Finale] NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 Episode 21 Recap

In this episode of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” the crew learns that ATF SAC (Special Agent in Charge) Kerry Adams is corrupt and begins to wonder if the rest of her squad is also participating in criminal activity. They understand this after inadvertently letting Adams in on their plans. Adams and her armed driver fight back against their attempted arrest. Sam (LL Cool J) and Callen barely escape being shot, and they use their skills and knowledge of Adams’ weapon to neutralize their attackers.

Adams then contacts the squad, saying that she needs their assistance in investigating one of her own agents, implying that she is unaware of the corruption inside her own group. Even though they’ve agreed to help her, the crew is still wary of her true intentions. They worry that she may try to pin the consequences of her unlawful activities on them or that she will expose her collaborator, ATF Agent William Newsome, in order to advance her own financial interests. They are worried about Newsome’s involvement, but they have no way to question Adams since she is no longer a threat.

Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) who are uninformed of Adams’ corruption at the time, are tasked with keeping an eye on Newsome. After meeting Adams, they fear for their safety and decide to move to a more secure location where they can install surveillance cameras. However, the rule-abiding Admiral Hollace Kilbride played by Gerald McRaney finds out about their scheme and orders them back to their original position.

After the setback, Admiral Kilbride understands the critical nature of establishing Newsome’s loyalty, given the threat he poses to their crew. Fearing he may have stumbled into a trap, he gives them permission to break into the house where Newsome is hiding. Newsome’s cover is blown unintentionally by the leak, but he turns out to be on the good side after all. Newsome was looking into the theft of American missiles from an Argentine base and their subsequent unlawful transportation. Even if Newsome is more productive working alone and avoiding technology, Kensi and Deeks making the decision to go in blind were probably for the best. With Newsome’s help, NCIS is able to apprehend the criminals responsible for arms trafficking. While this is going on, Callen and Sam consult Nina Barnes in an effort to uncover the source of the weapons’ entry into the country. They learn a lot and it helps Callen decide he wants a low-key wedding, so he suggests eloping with his fiancee Ana.

After the wedding band was canceled and the catering disappeared without a word, Ana went completely insane. There was no way to accommodate her father and his plus two guests on the seating plan, so running away seemed like the best option.  There’s a good reason why Kensi and Deeks’ wedding is the last one. Kensi’s pregnancy was discovered when the couple was making ready for their elopement. Everyone was overjoyed by the news that they were going to become parents. Because Kensi had been told she could never have a kid naturally, the fact that she did so was nothing short of miraculous.

Callen and Anna decide to fast-track their wedding with a spontaneous city hall ceremony. The group meets at City Hall to show their support for Callen on his wedding day, keeping Kensi’s pregnancy a secret until the end of the first trimester. They are not, however, the only ones with information to impart. After being maced while handcuffed and defenseless, the LAPD has decided to settle with Roundtree for an undisclosed amount. Roundtree is debating whether or not to accept the settlement offer, since it may give financial security for his sister’s education and a safety net for any future issues. Callen and Ana get married in front of their friends and family, and although Linda Hunt’s Hetty can’t be there in person, she sends her best wishes and her love in a letter.

Hetty’s letter to the newlywed Callen began, “Dear Agent Callen, congratulations on your wedding,” read Hetty’s letter, delivered to newlywed Callen by a surreptitious messenger. “I am so very happy for you and for Anna. I only wish I could have been there to celebrate such a glorious occasion with all of you. “Most people think I never had a family of my own, but I beg to differ,” Hetty continued. “I have been blessed with the greatest family one could ever have wished for. And so have you.”

Hetty surprises Callen and Anna with an offer to use her luxurious villa in Mykonos for their honeymoon. She even throws in two flights to Morocco for Callen and Sam to work on an additional project. In a dramatic turn of events, Anna imparted her newlywed husband the green light to embark on a journey to Morocco, while she patiently awaits his return to Greece.

Hetty also included an offer to stay at her Mykonos apartment for Callen and Anna’s honeymoon and two plane tickets to Morocco for when the two of them had time for “a small side project.” Anna told her new husband that she would be waiting for him in Greece if he traveled to Morocco. She turned the responsibility for Callen’s safety on to Sam, telling him, “At least until the honeymoon.” “I always do,” Sam affirmed. They went to Morocco and they met intelligence analyst Nell Jones (Renée Felice Smith), setting the stage for a forthcoming adventure and implying that either Nell has something planned or Hetty is involved in some sort of danger. She’s joined by Sabatino (Erik Palladino).
