In the episode’s climactic game, the Greyhounds pull off an unbelievable upset. Rupert Mannion (Anthony Head) had a heated argument with his coach off the field and pays the price for his actions.
Several plotlines are resolved by the episode’s end: Ted goes home at last, Beard stays with Jane and the team, Rebecca meets the Handsome Dutch Stranger by accident, Beard, and Jane get married, Roy takes over as head coach, and begins therapy, Keeley chooses neither Roy nor Jamie, and Richmond fans are given the chance to buy a stake in the team.
The review ends by saying that the show has its ups and downs, especially in the third season, but that it also has some very touching moments and a main character who isn’t afraid to face his mistakes. The cast as a whole deserves praise as well for the work they’ve done. The finale briefly references Nate’s backstory, calling it “somewhat bizarre,” and saying that his decline into bitterness is easily overcome.
