Netflix’s “Squid Game Season 2 has been approved. The South Korean survival drama became Netflix’s most-watched series of all time in 2021. The show, which was created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, follows a group of adults who are in financial trouble who are encouraged to play a series of deadly children’s games in exchange for a chance to win a 45.6 billion prize.
It’s official: Squid Game will return for a second season, as confirmed by Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-CEO and chief content officer. During the streamer’s fourth-quarter 2021 earnings call on Thursday, Sarandos was asked if there would be a Season 2. According to Deadline, he replied, “Absolutely,” before adding, “The Squid Game universe has just begun.”
Dong-hyuk had previously stated that Squid Game would return for a second season and even hinted at the third season. “I’m in talks with Netflix about season two as well as season three,” the director told the Korea Times last month. We’ll get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.”
Squid Game Season 1 is now available to stream on Netflix.
