The media empire in the first episode of the Emmy-winning HBO drama Succession was in shambles because the tyrannical boss had fallen ill, leaving his offspring and subordinates to bicker over who should take over for him and whether anybody could. The situation was alluded to in the title, and subsequent seasons have only served to cement the idea. The third and most important episode of the final season is titled “Connor’s Wedding.” The imposing father is ultimately put to death in Succession Season 4 Episode 3 which is beautifully upsetting. So, how did Logan die? What happens after Succession? And did Connor (Alan Ruck) and Willa (Justine Lupe) end up getting married? Succession Season 4 Episode 3 Recap
The episode begins with Roman on his way to Connor and Willa’s wedding when he gets a call from Logan, who is boarding a plane with Tom to meet Matsson. It is Logan’s desire that Roman break the news to Gerri that she has been fired. It’s obvious that this is a test of allegiance, yet despite his misgivings, Roman agrees to participate. Willa tells her mother that they will take a boat to Ellis Island for the wedding while a brass band performs. As Connor listens to some of the partygoers complain about the wealthy, he gets angry. While Roman musters up the courage to pull Gerri aside. Gerri immediately senses he is being strange and after some hesitation, he announces that she has been dismissed. They had to pay a hefty fee to the Department of Justice, and Logan blames her for it. Roman tries to apologize by promising her that she would be highly compensated.
Gerri, though, simply walks out in a huff, prompting Roman to leave the following message for his father. While Connor is griping about the “inadequate” wedding cake and Shiv is ignoring Tom’s calls, Kendall shows up. Despite Kendall and Roman’s best efforts, Connor is still holding out hope that Logan may drop by before he boards his flight overseas. However, during the flight, Tom phones Roman to report that Logan is ill with a dire prognosis. He was discovered lifeless in the restroom, and CPR is currently being administered. Frank holds his phone up to Logan’s ear so Kendall and Roman can talk to their dad. the flight attendants try to resuscitate him. Roman, in a state of astonishment, says this to Logan: “You’re a monster. And Kendall, her voice cracking, says, “I love you. I do… Not even I can forget what you did to me. She tells Logan over the phone, “I love you… don’t go, please not now,” and Kendall immediately runs to tell Shiv. Tom, though, assures her that “he’s not OK, no.” Tom says that Logan’s heart and respiration have both ceased.
As the plane begins to circle back, Kendall yells into the phone, demanding immediate access to both Logan’s doctor and the best heart doctor in the world. Frank gently assures him. But Frank is unsure, but “I think he went” when Kendall wonders if Logan is dead. Kendall becomes emotional and abruptly ends the call, leaving Shiv to lament that she wasn’t informed sooner. Roman is so shocked that he can’t recall what he said to Logan. before they both realized they needed to tell Connor. They take him aside and break the news that they fear Logan is dead. Connor finally declares he can’t deal with this and walks away, having worked through a range of conflicting emotions regarding his father. Roman insists that he needs to have some real doctors examine Logan before he can be certified dead.
Kerri is visibly shaken while Karolina begins to brace herself for the worst aboard the plane. Tom contacts Greg and says, “You need to cut short your wedding festivities and report to work immediately because Logan is dead.” Tom advises that they need to keep this quiet for the time being since it could cause Waystar’s stock to tank. Hugo tries to comfort Roman. The attorneys have begun drafting a statement, but the Roy children aren’t quite ready to discuss it just yet. they argue amongst themselves. Shiv wants to fly around for a while while they figure out how to handle this, while Roman wants to land immediately so a doctor can see Logan.
Connor and Willa Ferreyra discuss putting off the wedding, but he is worried that she will change her mind if they do. His direct question is about whether she is with him for his wealth. I am.” She says she won’t leave him, at least “not today.” After discussing Reagan’s burial arrangements with Roman and Shiv, Kendall begins discussing funeral arrangements for himself. Shiv and Kendall have nominated Roman to inform Matsson what happened, and they are adamant about writing the business statement themselves and preserving control until the board meets.
Succession Season 4 Episode 3 Ending
The three of them hop in a chopper and head to the airport, where a press conference has been scheduled for the arrival of Logan’s plane. After paying tribute to Logan and announcing his death to the press, Shiv adds that the board will convene to discuss the next actions. Shiv tells a reporter, “We intend to be there,” when asked what their role will be. While Kendall, Roman, and Shiv hug tenderly, they discuss whether or not they should see Logan’s body as Waystar’s stock plummets. Although only a handful of people were invited to the ceremony, Connor and Willa did end up getting married. Shiv and Tom drove home together, and Kendall stayed to watch the ambulance take his father’s body away. With Roy’s passing, Waystar Royco, which has been rocked by controversy and internal strife, has no apparent heir apparent. Shares of the corporation crashed after the news surfaced on a Sunday when markets were supposed to be closed.
