Why Did Tom Wambsgans Win Succession? What exactly happened?

Introducing Kendall Roy, the oldest son of Logan Roy and a central character in the hit series ‘Succession’. As the show commences, Kendall assumes the role of Logan’s successor to his colossal business realm. Logan harbors a deep-seated distrust towards Kendall, convinced that his own flesh and blood lacks the ruthless edge necessary to succeed in their cutthroat world.

Season 4 of Succession’s climax moves between New York, where the Roy siblings live, and the Bahamas, where their mother, Caroline, lives. After stumbling through his eulogy at Logan’s funeral, Roman hurled himself into a protest and was injured. Kendall tries to convince his brothers and sister to vote against the GoJo deal by lobbying on their behalf. To Shiv’s dismay, she learns that GoJo CEO Lukas Matsson is trying to replace her with her own estranged-ish spouse because he is angry about a published magazine cartoon depicting Shiv as the puppet master. For a moment, all three Roy children work together. They anoint Kendell King and make him drink a disgusting mixture of British condiments stolen from their mother’s fridge in a fit of childish hilarity. However, the calm is short-lived. Logan created craven, self-destructive heirs with insatiable cravings by promising the kingdom to each of his children at some time in their lives.

In the final moments, Kendall’s fate is revealed. Kendall assumes the role of interim co-CEO of Waystar RoyCo following his father’s passing. In an effort to prevent GoJo from taking over Waystar RoyCo, Kendall utilizes his position to obstruct their acquisition. In this episode, Kendall goes head-to-head with  Matsson, the Swedish tech billionaire and owner of GoJo. As the finale approaches, tensions rise as the board members prepare to cast their votes on the fate of the company. Will they choose to sell to Matsson or not? The future of the business hangs in the balance as the final decision looms. In a dramatic turn of events, Kendall manages to sway his hesitant siblings to cast their votes in his favor during the crucial board meeting.  Later on, Shiv chooses to cast her vote against her brother. And Tom Wambsgans, Shiv’s husband, is crowned the new CEO of Waystar RoyCo following its acquisition by GoJo. In a dramatic turn of events, Kendall’s bid to take over his father’s business falls short, leaving him without a seat on his father’s throne.
