SWAT Season 5 Episode 7 Recap
It’s Chris’ day. Every year, the crew tries to get Chris to celebrate her birthday. Chris dreads her day. She refuses to admit it. They still celebrate it. But they had to go to work this year before they could do more than scatter confetti. They were called to a location where some guys were trying to kill youngsters and retaliating against the cops. The shooters were the Russian mafia. They were shooting at the kids because one of the teenagers robbed a store with a fake pistol and then tried to run. The Russians shot one of the teens. SWAT was dispatched to deal with the armed males. They also hurried the injured teen to the hospital, leaving them to wonder why the mafia would want three youngsters. Hondo’s team was later helped by an old family acquaintance.
Saint was his name. He helps new immigrants and knows the hospitalized child. James, he said. Saint didn’t know James or his pals. But he promised to send a woman who knew Hondo’s precinct to talk to him, which was very helpful. James was caught on camera outside the clothes shop by Hondo’s squad. The same shop later burned down, and the owner was packing his bags to leave town. When questioned, he instantly confessed. His store used to be a Russian mob front. He’d wash their money. He also claimed James took $50 million from them and that teenagers were walking dead. The team knew what they were looking for.
They needed to find the last two teenagers with cash. Hondo followed Saint’s advice and spoke to Ivy, who identified the remaining kids. She said they were from Haiti. They came after the storm. They were in a homeless encampment, and Ivy knew one of their numbers. Her number was traced by Hodo’s squad. They found the kids in a homeless area where Hondo and Luca had traveled, but they weren’t the only ones, and they had to battle off the Russians again, and the kids fled. Fabi and Manny fled. They also pocketed the money, making protection difficult. The captured Russians were also silent. They worked for Victor Sasha, called “the Baron,” a monster. He escaped a Russian prison. He moved to LA and soon progressed through the levels of organized crime.
Sasha demands a refund. He kept sending his men after the youngsters. So they contacted James to help them find them. He awoke in a hospital. Saint persuaded him to tell Hondo where they were hiding. The squad later visited there. And Fabi. She had the cash hidden. She said her brother was enticing the armed men away by promising them money. But Manny was short on time. The Russians were planning to shoot him as soon as they knew he was playing them, so the team hid him. They pursued her brother. Manny was found before he was shot. They rescued him and then pursued the fleeing Russians. Hondo had to face one of them. He out-gunned and out-bested Sasha. The crew solved the case. Street got Chris her birthday gift and recovered the stolen money. He got vouchers. She’d always wanted to. In response to her request, Street made sure she had the vouchers. They were two. He indicated they were good for a year and a lot may happen. Tan returned home to an uneasy wife due to a hot female and Chinese neighbor coming in next door. He persuaded his father to admit why he quit the Panthers. But Hondo later discovered that his father’s old friend Saint was actually working with the Russians and using the cops to find the kids and recover his money. Hondo confronted Saint. Saint didn’t refute it but stated Hondo didn’t have proof and that he deserved everything.
