Still reeling from the anger and outrage directed at him by his own community, Hondo questions if he still has what it takes to lead 20-Squad, adding to the fear that he won’t be able to pull the team together in time to save the city, on the seventh season finale of the CBS Original series S.W.A.T., Friday, May 17 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*.
The finale episode was written by Matthew T. Brown & Daniela Labi and directed by Billy Gierhart.
In the interview with TVLINE, “S.W.A.T.” executive producer Dettmann talked about the series finale and brought up the idea that Billy Gierhart, who has directed all of the show’s premieres and finales, might direct this episode. Dettmann stressed that the team was dedicated to putting together an amazing finale that would be even better than the amazing stunts seen throughout the series. While the specifics of the finale are still being worked out, Dettmann said that the team wanted to find a balance between the show’s themes of family and Hondo’s problems as a police officer and the need to deliver exciting action scenes that lived up to the show’s name.
