The third season of THE BEAR is over, but fans are still left with questions about what will happen with Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) at the restaurant. The third season picks up where the second season left off, with Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) getting locked in the freezer on the first night of business. It then goes on to show the struggles and successes of the new business.
WHAT HAPPENED IN THE BEARE SEASON THREE FINALE
Chef Andrea Terry (Olivia Colman) is in charge of the funeral dinner for Ever in the last episode, which stars Carmy, Sydney, and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). There are cameos from famous chefs like Anna Posey, Rosio Sanchez, and Malcolm Livingston II at this event, as well as a surprise photo cameo of Bradley Cooper in his part from the movie Burnt.
Richie meets up with coworkers from Ever, where he used to work for a short time, and his friendship with Jessica (Sarah Ramos) makes me think that they might become romantically involved. Carmy, meanwhile, faces his trauma head-on when he talks to Chef David (Joel McHale), the abusive boss he had in New York who left him with lasting mental scars. This encounter is both freeing and upsetting, which shows how deeply it affects Carmy’s mind.
In the end, Sydney’s story arc is especially moving. She has an important talk with Luca, the cook who trained Marcus (Lionel Boyce) in season two. But her conversation with Chef Shapiro (Adam Shapiro) turns out to be very important. Shapiro offers Sydney the chance to run the kitchen at his new restaurant, but she isn’t sure because she hasn’t talked to Carmy about it yet. Carmy’s lack of credit for her original work makes her even less sure of what to do, leaving Sydney in a state of limbo.
At the end of the show, Carmy gets a bad review of The Bear from The Chicago Tribune. On his phone screen, words like “dissonance,” “disappointed,” “overdone,” “tired,” and “stale” flash, letting him know that the place is in a bad spot. The ending ends on a scary note with Carmy’s anger and the restaurant’s future being unknown.
WILL SYDNEY LEAVE THE BEAR?
It’s not clear what will happen with Sydney at The Bear. As season three goes on, it becomes clear that the restaurant is having a hard time making ends meet, mostly because Carmy is always changing the menu and spending a lot of money on products. Uncle Jimmy (Oliver Platt), who can’t take the money losses any longer, asks Computer (Brian Koppelman) to help him find ways to cut costs. The bad report makes the restaurant’s problems even worse and suggests that a bigger money problem is on the way.
Sydney may decide to take Chef Shapiro up on his offer because she feels ignored and undervalued. Carmy’s perspective and her creative ideas often don’t match up, which causes tension and makes her feel left out. Being in charge of Shapiro’s new restaurant would be a great way to start over, and Sydney may decide to do that in season four. She has become close with the staff at The Bear and thinks of them as family, which makes her choice harder.
THE BEAR’s season three finale does a great job of setting up several plots for the next season. Sydney’s possible departure is one of the main ones. Her choice will have a big effect on how the business and its staff work together. As watchers, we can’t wait to see what Sydney will decide and how The Bear will handle the growing problems it is facing.
