The Blacklist Season 10 Episode 12
Episode 12 of “The Blacklist,” titled “Brothers,” gives viewers a look into the past of Dembe and further insight into Red’s (James Spader) relationship with Dembe. Ressler becomes worried when Dembe suddenly leaves after receiving a call from his ex-girlfriend Aïssa Joachim (Zainab Jah). Travel with us back to 1992 in Marseille, France, where a teenage Dembe (Emeka Anammah) falls for the bartender, Young Aissa (Sibongile Mlambo). Dembe is late for a meal with Aissa, but she won’t leave without him since she suspects his boss, Red, of being a bad guy. He goes out on his own and returns nearly three years later, at which point Aissa introduces him to his daughter.
Dembe still can’t stay, but the audience finds out that Aissa is Isabella’s mother, the woman he loves, and the present fiancée of Dr. Michael Albani (Cyrus Farmer), a man accused of being a terrorist and a doctor working beyond boundaries. FBI Agent Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) and the Task Force are worried about line items in the federal budget for an informal, off-the-books, extremely costly task force that Congressman Arthur Hudson (Toby Leonard Moore) has noted. Harold notifies the Task Force, and for the time being, all they can do is have Siya Malik (Anya Banerjee) keep an eye on Red’s bathhouse in the hopes that he may eventually toss them a Blacklister. Dembe is curious about the circumstances surrounding Albani’s arrest, so he and Ressler pay a visit to Dr. Jon Rapchinski (Paul Fitzgerald), the director of the non-governmental organization for which Albani works and the apparent villain in this case.
