The Blacklist Season 10 Episode 17 Recap
Weecha Xiu (Diany Rodriguez), a bodyguard, enters Red’s room as he is dozing off at the start of the episode. It turned out that she had been summoned by Red for a private visit. Red tells Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) the following day that he came across an intruder but was able to control the situation. Cooper consents to loan Dembe Zuma (Hisham Tawfiq) to Red for a short period of time out of concern for his safety.
Cooper brings up a ship that Red had asked him to look into. Cooper doesn’t notice anything odd about the ship or its corporation, but Red exposes that it is a complete fraud. The Morgana Logistics Corporation, which specializes in setting up multiple fictitious businesses around the world for smuggling purposes, constructed the phantom enterprise.
Siya Malik (Anya Banerjee) and Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) are dispatched to the dock to examine the shipping containers that Red has flagged. They find that the containers are actually loaded with expensive French wines, not the claimed electronic components. The Task Force is still unaware of Red’s involvement despite the results.
Herbie Hambright (Alex Brightman), meantime, does some investigating and locates the tax preparer who worked with Morgana. This causes the team to meet the corporate vice president and the accountant, which ultimately causes an address and an office raid. The vice president is taken into custody during the raid despite his refusal to assist the FBI.
Dembe interrogates Red about the intruder and the requirement for increased security in the background. Dembe gets diverted by Red by playing a game of Bananagrams with him. Dembe later develops suspicions when a realtor who had previously been involved in one of Red’s schemes pays a visit and takes on the role of party planner for Red’s “Going Out of Business Celebration.” Cooper shares details on Mr. Kavanaugh (J.C. MacKenzie), the man who was arrested, with the Task Force. Red gives Kavanaugh aliases, enabling the group to follow his whereabouts and identify a location in Paris. Ressler and Siya are dispatched to Paris to monitor the raid.
Arthur Hudson keeps looking into the Task Force in the interim. His suspicions are increased when he learns that Cooper and three other assistant directors of the FBI attended a secret meeting. In order to start a congressional probe, Hudson threatens to reveal their ties to Red. Cooper calls Red to inform him that the Morgana Logistics Corporation’s headquarters were discovered during the raid in Paris. Despite shutting down the international organization, law enforcement discovers no personnel there but Kavanaugh, who is already in arrest. Cooper is sure that Kavanaugh will be held in custody until his trial.
Red drops Dembe off at his house while admitting that he wished they had more time together. Red is also missed by Dembe, who then departs. To assure the success of his operation, Red’s ultimate goal was to keep Dembe away from the Task Force. After sending a lawyer to bail out Kavanaugh, Red goes to the courthouse to pick him up. Cooper is still unaware of Red’s deception. They go back to the bathhouse, where international Morgana executives are mingling during a party. In his address to honor their achievements, Red makes a hint that the plan is coming to an end.
