Darlene is trying to buy a home, but she discovers that couples and single males are likely to be given priority over her. She has Ben pose as her loving partner and places a bid for the asking price, but another pair outbids her by $20,000! Ben offers to cosign the loan in order for Darlene to obtain a larger loan and therefore the house. Darlene declines his request. The goal of buying the house was for her to reclaim her independence and stop relying on others. Darlene’s sister Becky (Lecy Goranson) is dealing with her own boyfriend’s problems, attempting to conceal her relationship with her professor (Veep’s Matt Walsh), which rarely works out. In this episdoe, Ben is impressed, remarking that she reminds him of the Darlene he used to know. Two of Professor Davis’ students catch Becky and Professor Davis on a date. Becky tells the students that she is unmarried as they try to hide their connection. They invite her to a singles event called “You Have to Die, But You Don’t Have to Die Alone” at the Lanford Cemetery. The students warn Becky that if she dates her professor, it’ll only be a matter of time until the Dean finds out. Becky goes on a date with someone else to prove they aren’t dating. Later, Becky tells Prof. Davis about the date and is disappointed when he doesn’t seem to mind. But he is concerned. He expresses concern that Becky will realize the danger isn’t worth it and abandon him. They have both decided that the connection is worth the risks.

Since Katey Sagal and Kurt Sutter started dating in the early 2000s and 2004, they got married. She starred in the popular show “Sons of Anarchy,” which he made. They bought a renovated vintage home in the foothills above Hollywood for $5.9 million. When the couple bought their new home, it was just as or even better than their other homes before that. The Al Jolson Estate in Encino, California, was sold by Sagal around the time of their wedding in 2004. It was a very well-known place in the area. Don Ameche used to own the house. Sagal bought it with her now-ex-husband, Jack White, from Kirstie Alley in 1997. She sold it to Charlie Sheen in 2004, and he bought it back.
