Mark returns on The Conners Season 4 Episode 18, “The Best Laid Plans, A Contrabassoon, and A Sinking Feeling.” After a catastrophic tragedy causes her to make a life-changing decision, the single mom who seeks independence takes a step back to re-evaluate everything while coping with the stress of construction. In other parts of the house, her son Mark (Ames McNamara) has a fight with his contrabassoon teacher, Lou, played by Christopher Lloyd, who is reprising his character from the Roseanne remake. He was Bev’s (Estelle Parsons) boyfriend at the time, so Dan (John Goodman) has some catching up to do when he tries to intercede with his grandson’s new enemy. We’re hoping that by the end of this episode, we’ll have a better understanding of Darlene Conner’s (Sara Gilbert) decision. Darlene still can’t pay her expenses on her present wage.
