The Equalizer Season 2 Episode 16 Recap
Aunt Vi is called to jury duty in a case involving a lot of speculation. To cut a long story short, Tim was fired from his job eight months ago, but an ex-girlfriend Tim had may have secured him a new one. That might have been OK if he hadn’t been living with Morgan and having a child with her, but having contact with his ex is a problem for Tim. As a result of their squabble, Tim walked away to calm off. He forgets his phone on this trip, and while wandering down a skyscraper valley in New York, he enters a building where the girl who was raped and murdered lived, and she lets him in, creating an association. To make matters worse, the victim, Sarah, was previously spotted with another Black man, who is suspected of drugging her. Around the time Sarah was slain, Tim was observed sprinting from the building, looking for a cab, and one of Sarah’s neighbours spotted him. Oh, and Tim has a mark on his fingers, indicating that they may have spoken words before Sarah was choked to death.
Although there is no DNA to indicate he committed the murder or rape, everything else points to Tim being a criminal. Aunt Vi, on the other hand, refuses to claim Tim is guilty since there is too much circumstantial evidence. As a result, Robyn is able to investigate everything, with the support of her usual group and Dante wary of becoming entangled. On the one hand, he wants justice, but he also suffers from PTSD as a result of the assault, wonders if he should return to school to become a lawyer, and honestly, he has lost track of his interests. That is, until he meets with Tim’s lawyer, Kerry, who reminds him that people like Tim end themselves in situations like this because cops don’t ask tough questions and are more concerned with achieving a conviction than with telling the truth. Dante decides to return to law enforcement, and while Robyn never directly intervenes in the case, Aunt Vi secures a not-guilty judgement for Tim. It was difficult to achieve since there was so much bias in the room, but Tim returns home to Morgan, and Robyn is reminded that justice runs in the family for at least two generations.
