The Equalizer Season 3 Episode 18 Recap
In the Season 3 finale of “The Equalizer,” titled “Eye for an Eye,” all of the main characters are attacked or put in a risky scenario at the same time. At the outset of the episode, Robyn McCall (Queen Latifah) and Melody “Mel” Bayani (Liza Lapira) are being pursued by a group of masked guys who eventually corner them inside a building. However, the story suddenly jumps back in time six hours to a happier time, when Robyn is joyfully working on her father’s old car. Aunt Viola “Vi” Marsette (Lorraine Toussaint) and Delilah (Laya DeLeon Hayes) phone Robyn to make plans for a fun day out. Robyn makes plans to meet them for dinner later but is followed to a car dealership. At the same time, Harry Keshegian (Adam Goldberg) and Mel are being trailed through a supermarket. Robyn faces her attackers in the store’s restroom, while the rest of the group fights off intruders in the parking lot. During the conflict, Robyn discovers a syringe on the ground.
When Delilah spots a suspicious man in a bodega, she and Aunt Vi are also in danger. After reuniting at their offices, the protagonists are shocked to hear from CIA agent Colton Fisk (Donal Logue) that they are under surveillance. In the surveillance footage, a white van stands out as a possible suspect. Harry finds Marcus Dante (Tory Kittles) in a pub, and despite his depression over his suspension, he convinces him to join his team as a backup. Robyn and Mel visit a friend of theirs who runs a black market lab to learn more about the truth serum in the syringe. They find out that the buyer was nameless and that the serum is a “truth serum” that also causes the slow shutdown of the nervous system.
Delilah’s prediction about the weird man trying to rob the bodega turned out to be spot on. While Aunt Vi, Delilah, and other customers are held prisoner inside, Harry and Dante track down the white van outside. The Venezuelan Freedom Fighters, who want their revenge on Robyn and Fisk for a previous operation, are represented by a symbol they find. Robyn learns that she and Fisk are targets of the same group. In the midst of a struggle, Harry and Dante discover that Dante has been injected with the truth serum. Robyn and Mel, having been informed, head out to confront Fisk. They give Harry orders to bring Dante to the underground lab in search of an antidote. To Robyn and Mel, Fisk conveys his suspicion that the Freedom Fighters’ leader Enrique Vargas is plotting to kill him. Fisk, though, is abducted in the white van later on.
Robyn and Mel catch up with Harry and Dante as they pursue the van, and Dante tells Robyn he loves her. They don’t have time to process this information, though, because Harry needs to go get Dante’s antidote right away. Upon arrival, they find that the lab’s owner has been brutally slain. Robyn and Mel are gassed and tied up as they arrive at a building, while Aunt Vi tries to defuse the situation at the bodega. Dante’s health worsens while Harry frantically looks for an antidote in the lab. Both Harry and Dante are abducted after Harry is compelled to use defibrillators to revive Dante.
After talking to the robber, Aunt Vi discovers that he has lost his job and his wife and is desperate. Together, she and Delilah urge him to think about giving up. Robyn and Mel, meantime, are able to free themselves from their captors by luring one of their attackers to them, knocking him out. The Freedom Fighters’ commander has attacked and interrogated Fisk. The thief’s Aunt Vi keeps trying to help him change his ways. Delilah takes swift action to protect the robber when the cops enter the business. She sees that his gun is unloaded and reports this to the authorities, saving his life.
