Eobard Thawne, also known as the Reverse Flash, is descended from Hugo and Charlene Thawne, who reared Cobalt Blue/Malcolm Thawne, the long-lost twin brother of Flash Barry Allen. In the same vein, Eddie Thawne is Eobard’s ancestor on The Flash, which ultimately leads to his demise in the season one finale.

The Flash Season 9 Episode 10 Recap
In this episode, Barry is suddenly transported back in time to the day his mother dies. While trying to find a way back to his own time, he meets his parents and Joe, who is possessed by the Negative Speed Force. Meanwhile, Cecile is visiting Joe and enjoying a feast he prepared for her, Allegra is trying on a new suit at STAR Labs, and Khione is journaling in her apartment. He visits the CCPD, where he encounters a young Joe West, but he is unable to reveal his true identity to the young man. For Barry to use a certain database, he needs to track down Dr. Tina McGee, but she won’t be available for another two years. Joe decides to aid Barry, but only after learning that today is the day his mother will pass away. Joe, while Barry is away, discovers a blue stone that gives him negative speed force abilities and changes his eyes blue. He plans on killing Barry, but Barry isn’t interested in a confrontation. After a long battle, Barry is able to defeat the Negative Speed Force and rescue Joe. Eobard Thawne, who Barry had previously met, reveals that he did not, in fact, transport Barry back in time. Thawne says he wants to kill young Barry, and since Barry can’t just arrest him without disrupting the timeline, he has a fair chance of succeeding. When Barry finally relaxes, he is swept away by an enigmatic blue force. The episode ends with a sudden storm at Mercury Labs. Dr. Gilmore also finds a mystery secret CCPD file on the lab floor detailing Eddie Thawne’s death.
