Shauna and Lea are looking for churches to get married in tonight’s episode of The Good Doctor, while Aaron is trying to sell his house when his ex-wife turns up. When Shaun witnesses a vehicle accident involving a pregnant Emma who has tachycardia. Aaron is at the house with his wife, and he announces that he is moving to a little town in Montana. She tells him she needs his help because her husband is sick. Body dementia was diagnosed two years ago. She wants Aaron to look at it. He tells her that there are more experienced doctors than him; she says she wants the truth and does not want to waste time.
Returning to the accident, Shaun is treating Emma and tells her she is very lucky. Alex, Marcus, and Salen invite Morgan to dinner. Aaron goes to the hospital to meet with his ex-husband, Sunil, and discuss upcoming tests. He loses focus and wonders why he’s there. His ex-wife tries to calm him by showing him family photos. Alex checks Sunil’s X-rays and finds him suitable for the experimental trial. Aaron tells Morgan he needs his office back. Aaron says Sunil doesn’t have Lewy Body Dementia.
Because the church’s flooring squeaks, Shaun tells Audry and Jordan to wear socks to his wedding instead of shoes. Jordan says he won’t take her new shoes away from her. Emma is recuperating nicely. The ex-wife of Aaron alleges she thought he was overbearing and self-centered. He wants to move to Montana, but no one knows him or his intentions. He did it after Maddie, she claimed. Shaun tells Emma their plans for her. He tells her she needs to choose between herself and her child. Shaun sees Aaron. Aaron tells him he won’t be there because he’s selling his house and moving to Montana When Shaun asks Aaron to be his best man, Aaron says yes. Aaron tells him he is now partners with Lea and should speak to her alone.
Alex examines Sunil’s X-rays and determines that he is an excellent candidate for the experimental trial. Aaron informs Morgan that he will need his office back. Sunil does not appear to have Lewy Body Dementia, according to Aaron.
Lea tells Shaun that they must decide on the church and the squeaky floor. Aaron tells Shaun that she has something to say to him. She says she flew to Montana to meet with Aaron, not for business. She worried about him because the hospital had changed so much. Change is hard, and she could sense he was struggling. She confesses that by removing some of the patient reports, his scores improved. He says he told her he didn’t want her to. Her actions were reprehensible. When she apologizes, he dismisses her and walks away.
Aaron tells Sunil that the growth on his neck is cancerous and growing rapidly. It should give him a few more years of good health. He apologizes, but there is no way to delete it. Sunil thanks them and says it’s more than he asked for.
The possibilities say Shaun’s coworkers, are endless. In her words, “I’ve talked to a partner who supports me.” a pal tells him she must endure the procedure to protect him. Salen wakes Marcus up and invites Alex and Morgan to supper. He’s surprised when she confesses she had no idea they were going public, but he forgives her and makes a reservation. Shaun approaches Lea and informs her that she must correct his scores because they reflect him and his work. She claims she is unable to do so. He warns her that she must inform Salen, that she has broken the regulations, and that she may be dismissed. Shaun examines Emma’s abdomen and advises Jordan that she will need an emergency c-section.
Aaron was apprehensive to operate on Sunil because he didn’t want his ex-wife to lose someone close to her. But after discussing it with them, he decides to do it. Sunil and Emma both had surgery. Shaun tries to revive Emma’s baby, but it’s too late; Audrey calls an ambulance. Everyone in the OR is sad, and Shaun appears to be breaking. Meanwhile, Sunil is OK, and Aaron tells his ex-wife he has to rest for six weeks. Not to go to Montana because he still needs Shuan’s support.
A baby was lost due to the hospital’s lack of preparation; all essential medication had expired, and there was no backup supply. This is the first time in her fifteen years there that something like this has happened; her priorities are all incorrect, and today they murdered someone. Audrey tells Salen that her mother is recovering and to call her lawyers. Salen tells Audrey not to tell her mother the truth.
Shaun is in the inventory room, where he smashes all of the spired drugs on the floor. Shaun loses it as Lea steps in, telling her that she lied to him, that he can’t trust her, and that he can’t marry her. When Aaron walks in and attempts to calm Shuan down, he starts hyperventilating. Shaun tells him he is a great best man but a bad mentor and has lied to him. The baby wouldn’t have died if he’d been at the hospital. Aaron sits down alongside Shaun and informs him that he is there. Shaun has a major meltdown, weeping violently on the floor with his hands over his ears. Shaun collapses into Aaron’s arms and sobs uncontrollably. “You are a bad best man and a terrible mentor!” he says. “You said you would never abandon me, but that’s a lie. A lie! That is a lie! Why is everyone lying to me? Why?? “You should have been running the hospital,” Shaun exclaims. “If you had, the baby would not have died!”
