As a result of a recent scan, he tells Lea that he only has three to six months to live. Glassman decides not to get any invasive treatment because he would rather spend his last days with his family and friends than go through painful procedures that might only slightly extend his life.
Even though Glassman knew what was going to happen, Shaun refused to give up hope. He was determined to find a way to save his master. Shaun’s unwavering drive showed how close they were, making their relationship more like that of a father and son. He says that he only needs to save Claire and not everyone else. This choice is made in the same hospital conference room where Glassman fought so hard in the pilot episode to get Shaun the job. This shows how their friendship goes full circle.
In a touching moment, Glassman, who knows he is dying soon, agrees with Shaun’s choice to go against the CDC and give Claire the experimental treatment. They both give Claire the bacteria through an IV in the hopes that it will save her life.
