Alan Cumming is back Emmy-nominated role as Eli Gold on today’s episode of The Good Fight, and his relationship with Sarah Steele’s character, Marissa, is back in the spotlight. He also shares some useful information about the Florricks from the good old days of The Good Wife.  In The Good Fight Season 6 Episode 2, Eli Gold stopped by to help his daughter Marissa. Along with this, Whether Alicia and Peter are no longer together is answered in this episode titled “The End of the Yips” to those who wanted to know more about Alicia and Peter Florrick.

The Good Fight Season 6 Episode 3 Recap “The End of Football”

Eli has been a fan favorite for a long time because of his charming ability to pull strings with a smile on his face. He was last seen in The Good Wife, which is the parent show of The Good Fight. In the last season, Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) may need his help, since Reddick & Associates seems to be surrounded by violence and tensions keep rising as the episodes go on. In this episode, Eli tells Diane what’s going on with Alicia and Peter Florrick in the present day. Alicia and Peter were last seen in the 2016 series finale.

When Eli called Diane Lockhart’s (Christine Baranski) office, she said she was downstairs because of “just a general reshuffling” and then talked about the Good Wife characters played by Chris Noth and Julianna Margulies: “I hear that Peter Florrick (Chris Noth) is back in prison? “Another shake-up?” Eli said yes, but he didn’t say why. He also said, “I don’t think he’ll be back from this one.”

Eli says that Alicia has since moved to New York City and opened her own law firm there. During the scene, Diane says that she hasn’t talked to her former coworker and friend since that slap that everyone heard.  Diane said, “No, she’s not, because that didn’t work out.” That’s putting it lightly, since the last time these two people saw each other was in the Good Wife finale when Diane hit Alicia (Julianna Margulies) for having Lucca (Cush Jumbo, who left Fight in the Season 5 premiere) discredit her husband Kurt (Gary Cole) on the stand by asking about an affair to help Peter.

On the other hand, Peter hasn’t done nearly as well. Eli tells Diane that Alicia’s corrupt ex-husband is back in an orange jumpsuit. In the last episode of The Good Wife, he was forced to step down as Governor of Illinois because of his corruption. Eli doesn’t say what scandal put Peter in jail this time, but the first time, it was a sex scandal, which is an odd parallel to Noth’s current problems.  Eli’s comment that Peter won’t come back from it makes it clear that this is the end of Peter’s story, but not as much as what happened to Peter.  Noth’s character, William Bishop, in The Equalizer. Bishop was killed off after the actor was fired over sexual assault claims (off-screen). Then, Robyn McCall (Queen Latifah) was determined to get Mason Quinn (Chris Vance) in trouble for what he had done.

After this episode, executive producer Robert King confirmed to TVLine that Alicia and Peter are no longer together. He also explained why Alicia decided to move to New York City: “It seemed like once she broke up with Peter, she would start over, and she might do that in New York since Julianna lives there. It didn’t seem too far-fetched to think that Alicia was doing that.”

The Good Wife Season 2, episode 6 is now streaming on Paramount+, and Every Thursday, Paramount+ airs new episodes of The Good Fight.
