The Old Man Season 1 Episode 2 Recap
Harold Harper, a former FBI colleague, contacts Chase and gives him an ultimatum to keep their terrible crimes hidden: disappear immediately and never contact his family again, or his daughter Emily would be in danger. As a result, Chase is being pursued from all sides, particularly after a 30-year feud with Afghan commander Faraz Hamzad erupted. In episode 2 of Season 1 of The Old Man Dan receives a call from Harper telling him to install a tracker in his car as he is eating at a restaurant and flashing back to him and Abby as a young couple, wanting to stop running and establish a life together under new names. Harper cautions him, adding that he has been instructed by specialists who may wish to return him to Afghanistan. He confesses he was apprehensive about answering questions concerning his handling of the previous 30 years. “I’ll have to put you down,” Harper threatened if Dan tries to get retribution, adding that he knows Dan has a daughter they can mistreat. He suggests that he “vanish,” which means that he will never speak to Emily again.
When Dan called Emily to inform her he had to say goodbye for good. He takes a sharp turn, leading two men who are chasing her down a dark and dusty sidewalk, while she pushes him to fight. They stepped outside and discovered that he had misplaced his tracker… Dan slammed his car into theirs, crushing one of his chasers in the process. He walks out and shoots and murders a seriously injured man before fighting another young man who was merely lighted by automobile brakes. Dan grabs the youngster, but he struggles back, and the boy eventually gets Dan’s best, zips him up, and shoves him into the back seat of his car. Dan whistles for his dogs, but the automobile speeds away as soon as they arrive. Dan isn’t done yet: he cuts the zipper ties with a hidden pocket knife and kicks the driver in the head, causing the car to crash into the gate and turn a couple of times down the hill. When Dan came, he and the young guy struggled over a knife, and Dan slashed the boy’s wrist. He then summoned his dogs, who tore the boy apart. Dan, who is injured but unbeaten, gives Harper a serious warning.
