The Resident returns for its winter premiere on February 1, expect many stories to really take off. After the departure of Dr. Nicolette Nevin (Emily VanCamp), Season 4 of The Resident has been dramatic and painful for Dr. Conrad Hawkins (played by Matt Czuchry), but the donor-recipient of Nic’s heart is admitted to the emergency room, Conrad’s involvement in the case becomes personal.
In addition, The new episode will mark the start of a new chapter in Bell’s life. Bell hasn’t told Kit yet, but his girlfriend is aware of the situation. Conrad wakes up after a long, enjoyable night with Marion, and she sneaks out as soon as they hear Gigi has awoken. Marion returns around the corner to take Gigi to the aquarium for the day. The results of most of Bell’s tests have come back normal, but they must wait for more. He keeps imagining the worst-case scenarios, and Conrad assures him that it may be simple, but that it will have to wait. Conrad is selected for the initial Go Flight squad. He’s on his way to a highway accident where they need to treat a trapped victim. The new doctor who has accompanied them is a badass who takes command right away. Although there is a gas leak, Conrad and Cade stabilize the woman and remove the metal impaling her.
Conrad, on the other hand, notices that there is another victim in the room. Cade stays with him despite the fact that the situation is likely to blow up. Right before the whole thing explodes, they save another girl, and Conrad saves a cat. Trevor is back with Devon, and they’re treating Jerome, who has a fever of unknown cause, and they need to figure out what else is wrong. Jerome requires his assistance dog, but it is chained outside, so Trevor gets to work attempting to bring it inside with Jerome before his panic attacks begin. They get the dog in, but Jerome is a mystery because he has had very little social interaction. Trevor’s main goal is to figure out what might be wrong with him.
On the ride back to Chastain, Conrad gets to know Cade while she tends to him in the ambo. She comes from Atlanta General and has a lot of experience in the field of medicine. On their way back to the hospital, they pick up a woman who is in active labor. Conrad and Cade’s Vic, Mindy, requires extensive surgery, which AJ and Leela are working on. With Billie and Voss, Jill, the other Vic, requires surgery. The trauma center and emergency room are overflowing, and Voss is astonished to learn that Bell isn’t performing any surgeries. Cade knows Creole well, which demonstrates how well she understands her field of medicine.
The pregnant woman Cade and Conrad treat only speaks Creole. Jerome’s temperature rises. Billie inquires about Bell and wonders why he stopped going to surgery, implying that something is wrong. While watching AJ and Leela’s surgery, Bell experiences another dizzy spell. Kit calls Bell to check on him and urges him to call her when he’s ready to tell her what’s truly going on. Trevor is having trouble intubating Jerome. He and Devon are still unsure what’s wrong with him, but he’s swiftly deteriorating. Conrad arrives just in time, and Cade offers her assistance. Conrad backs her up. Devon is irritated by Cade’s entry into the picture and subsequent takeover. Kit bestows privileges to her. Jerome is suffering from multiple organ failure.
Trevor discovers a clue via a map while recovering Boo Boo Bear and the bag she’s kept in. Trevor deduces that it could be a rare tick-borne disease based on the trial. It is confirmed by tests. It was a fantastic save. Conrad learns more about Cade after hearing about her hurricane relief work in Haiti. He gives her a job since Devon has to be replaced in the emergency room. Cade checks out, but she bounces around and doesn’t stay at hospitals for long periods of time, has a gap when she provided earthquake aid in Haiti, and is evasive as if she’s hiding something, despite the fact that they need her right now. Conrad and Devon set out to find her. Cade is completely devoid of any digital imprint. Conrad receives Bell’s test results and summons him to go over them, ending the episode on a cliffhanger.
