The title of Resident season 5 episode 12 is “Now You See Me,” it will focus on some of these people attempting to solve some challenging cases. Conrad and Cade strive to figure out what happened to a lost youngster who is taken into the ER with physical evidence of abuse. Conrad reveals to Bell that he suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. Devon is ecstatic since his clinical experiment begins that day, and Leela encourages him. kit is getting ready for the Lunar New Year, and Jake is on hand to assist with some screenings. Jake is accompanied by Sammi, who is looking forward to seeing her grandfather. Kit, on the other hand, can sense that something is amiss with Bell. Cade declines Irving’s invitation to another after-work get-together, prompting Irving to chastise her for not getting to know anyone. Cade diverts Irving’s attention by bonding over a favorite film and teasing him when he mentions that she isn’t on social media.
When a young woman experiences a cardiac episode, Cade summons AJ for a consult, and AJ recognizes that the woman has Nic’s heart and summons Conrad. When they get the scoop on Hannah, Conrad gets upset when he hears her heart. Conrad is upset when AJ tells Hannah that her heart is in early heart failure. Irving explains to a perplexed Cade why Conrad is so reactive. Bell reveals his diagnosis to Kit and Jake. They want to talk about treatment, but he’s still thinking about it and avoiding the topic. Leela goes through some practice rounds with Billie, her mentor. She’s also attempting to persuade Leela to choose brain over cardio. She discusses the time commitment required, and Leela states that she is not interested in starting a family right now, or at all. AJ contacts Devon about enrolling his mother in Devon’s clinical trial, despite Billie’s concerns about the consequences. Hannah’s heart begins to malfunction once more, and AJ is forced to place a pump during surgery. They believe she is refusing to live in the residence.
After speaking with Carol, Devon conducts the last test to assess if she is suitable for the experiment. She doesn’t pass the final exam, and AJ is furious that Devon would exclude her due to a rounding error. Cade expresses sympathies to Conrad over Nic’s death, and Hannah assures him that he’ll find a way to restore things. Bell is suffering from excruciating headaches and seeks refuge in a supply closet. Bell agrees to the treatments but announces that he’ll be leaving Chastain for good because he’ll never be able to operate and his condition is rapidly deteriorating. He tells Bell that he doesn’t want Kit to be responsible for his becoming ill. Jake observes Kit’s distress and goes to speak with her, leaving Sammie and Gigi to watch the Lunar dance, where Gigi is startled by the dancing dragons and flees.
Conrad tries to persuade Devon to change his mind by invoking his father’s death, but Devon refuses since he does not want to suffer Carol. Inside, Kit discovers Sammie and Gigi reading a book. Hannah is subjected to brain surgery. Kit assures Bell that she will always be with them, no matter what, but that he will improve. Devon informs AJ that he will not allow Carol to attend the trial, and Conrad agrees. When they speak with Carol, she expresses relief because she was only doing it for AJ. They arranged for palliative treatment for her. Conrad informs Hannah that she has nic’s heart and requests that Gigi be brought in. “Hello, mama,” Gigi says as she listens in.
