The Resident Season 5 Episode 17 Recap

Leela is parting with some of her eggs to help her twin sister conceive a child. She wanted to help Padma find a suitable sperm donor as well. She only wanted the best for her sister, and she wanted to know what they looked like as adults because the website her sister was utilizing only used newborn photographs of potential sperm donors. Dr. Devon Pravesh (Manish Dayal) also brings the interns to a senior living home, where Dr. Kit Voss (Jane Leeves) introduces Dr. Randolph Bell (Bruce Greenwood) to one of her medical heroes. They spoke with the eminent doctor Dr. Arthur Kravitz. The house has Kravitz as a resident. He has a problem with short-term memory. Kravitz’s girlfriend, Gloria Kravitz, assists him. Gloria wasn’t feeling good. Gloria was rushed to the hospital, joined by Kravitz.

He stated that Gloria was not on any medications. Gloria finally acknowledged being on many. Devon couldn’t identify what was causing what. He intended to wean Gloria off her medications one at a time in order to determine what was causing the side effects. Devon was doing his best to make his interns great doctors. Devon and Zach remained loyal to Gloria. They outlined their plan, and Kravitz persuaded her to accept. Kravitz convinced her to trust the doctor. Devon was doing everything he could to ensure that his interns were well-prepared to practice medicine. It isn’t just the wonderful people.

Devon and Zach remained steadfast in their support for Gloria’s cause. They detailed their plan to her, and she finally agreed after Kravitz persuaded her.  Devon began weaning Gloria off the medication while catching up with Leela in the meanwhile. Devon began weaning Gloria off her meds. Leela started researching the sperm bank her sister had chosen and discovered three lawsuits against it. The donor in one case did not appear to have disclosed that he was a schizophrenia carrier. Another refused to give his criminal record. The third pretended to be a college graduate but was in fact a dropout. Leela was not pleased. Her sister, she thought, had made a grave error in choosing that sperm bank.

She didn’t want her sister using it. She wanted her sister to utilize sperm from a coworker. Leela got the concept from Devon. As a result, she got a male doctor who worked at the hospital.  Padma chose AJ Dr. AJ Austin (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) as her sperm donor instead of her sister.  Gloria’s condition had deteriorated, and they had to rush her to the hospital. Devon was not present at the time. The physicians realized there was something else wrong, so she was rushed into the surgery room.  Bell was confident he could do it again. They had to do surgery on her. While Bell was continued operating on Gloria, her condition deteriorated. AJ was called. He tried to save Bell, but it was too late. Gloria died. Gloria could have been rescued according to new intern Zach.

Conrad, on the other hand, was able to diagnose his daughter’s buddy Peter in time to prevent brain damage. Conrad consults Dr. Billie Sutton (Jessica Lucas), concerned about a neurological cause. Peter’s brain is swollen, but no stroke or bleeding has occurred. Gigi wants Conrad to treat her friend. Conrad discovers what’s wrong with Gigi’s friend. A hereditary enzyme deficit that makes it difficult to break down protein is known as urea cycle disease. After sharing his father’s protein drink that morning, Peter became ill, and he’s been eating roast beef since his mother left.
