The Resident Season 5 Episode 20 Recap

Everyone comes out to support and comfort AJ at Carol’s funeral. AJ refers to them as his sole family. They dedicate a tree to her. After the burial, AJ promises Padma they’ll chat more. Bell is prompted by the burial to review and revise his will, and he discovers that everything is still set up to go to his ex-wife. For Kit, Jake, and Sammie, he wants to make something new. He claims, however, that Georgia does not recognize common law marriage and that he wants to be able to leave everything to Kit. Kit suggests that they marry at that point. All joking aside, they’re officially getting married. Devon tries to communicate with Leela by bringing her coffee, but she continues to shun him and has another surgery. She agrees to speak with him later because they haven’t spoken since the sperm donor situation, which she is still digesting. She spits out his drink and rushes to the hospital.

Cade is escorted by an armed guard when he returns from the FBI. An unhoused woman with a serious infection is in the ER asking for a script. Ashley, a happily married woman with a PT wife who has scoliosis and requires an eight to 10 hour surgery, will be treated by Leela and Billie. Leela tries to get some rest before the procedure, but she is interrupted by obnoxious doctors. When a sign fell on him, his entire side was crushed and his lung was shattered. They dial AJ’s number. AJ has worked out a lot of paperwork and stuff he wants to set up for the upcoming baby. He opened a bank account for the kids’ tuition and other expenses, but Padma despises the idea of them becoming a family and fears that AJ will try to control her. When AJ walks in and tells her about the pneumonectomy, Leela finally falls asleep, and she’s excited to scrub in. Conrad notices that his unhoused patient has a number of scripts written by him, but she refuses to answer any questions for fear of being killed. All of the prescriptions were written by Chastain doctors. Conrad informs Cade of the situation and suggests deferring alerting the FBI until Terry has been treated.

Leela and Aj lament over their troubles until she orders the wrong medicines in surgery due to her inability to focus. After having another chat with Padma that makes her feel unheard, AJ overhears Kitbell talking about compromising and such. Padma approaches Devon to discuss the baby’s dilemma, and he informs her of his offer without understanding she was unaware. They try to explain the situation to Terry and tell her about Phoebe, who she adored. Terry becomes more open as a result of it. Terry reveals how she got involved in the Medicare fraud scheme, as well as the site where the mafia does business and how the homeless were recruited to market items. Leela nods off during surgery, causing a bleeder, and is sent home. Cade and Conrad were seen talking to the FBI by the person who killed Phoebe. Padma and AJ have a conversation, apologise, and come to an accord. Kit is furious with Leela and threatens to make a decision for her if she doesn’t. Devon finally breaks up with Leela after they speak it out. At a restaurant, Kit and Bell propose to each other.
