A stressful hour, The Resident Season 6 Episode 3 did a great job of bringing attention to the problem of gun violence and the burden it places on the healthcare system. That episode seemed to involve more than just Padma’s near-death experience. Devon has essentially taken care of Padma’s children throughout her pregnancy. One of the loveliest aspects of this entire arc and what made it all worthwhile was the look of unadulterated delight and surprise on the Raptor’s face as he cradled his sons. The Resident Season 6 Episode 3 Recap
As she prepares for her C-section, Padma types her last will and testament. She is aware of how hastily she has made all these significant life choices. Devon overhears Leela promising to look after the infants in case of emergency. On the GO-team, Cade and Conrad are finishing off a case. They discover a man has been shot and the automobile is driving away when they hear gunshots. The man must be taken because he is already hemorgagging in Cade’s automobile. Despite the fact that another hospital is nearby and that hospital hanging up on them due to the high cost of a GSW victim, they are diverted to Chastain. Ian learns that they must do an obligatory drug test that day. He makes an effort to remove the medicines from his body. The patient, nicknamed Eucalyptus, had a weak pulse and no sign of the bullet’s escape. He need immediate surgery since something vascular was damaged by the bullet.
Kit and Conrad understand that because they are uninsured and low class, public hospitals bear the whole cost of GSWs and stabbings. The C-section for Padma is put off. Cade becomes aware of the required drug tests. Winston looks for information about Eucaplyptus. In order to hide his tracks, Ian writes himself a prescription after doing a self-drug test to discover what substances are still present in his system. Another surgical team will be needed to remove the bullet because it is at the spinal chord. Cade overhears that the reason for the drug test must be that someone thinks the other person is using. She observes Ian announcing his findings with assurance.
Eucalyptus accrues costs of over $500,000 Ian learns from Kit that his benzos test was positive. He claims that he has back discomfort and instructs him to retake the test in a week because he is unable to function while the drug is still in his system. Ian informs Cade of his positive test results. Conrad is approached by Cade, who asks him if he told Kit about his suspicions. Without mentioning Ian explicitly, he acknowledges that he did. Despite their disagreement, more Eucalyptus-related difficulties surface. Padma is once again thrown behind by the constant scheduling changes made by the surgeons. Once more, AJ and Leela are summoned to surgery. To give Eucalyptus extra blood, they bump a bypass. When Padma experiences an abruption but there are no open operating rooms, Devon tells Billie to postpone an apendectomy, sending Padma into shock. The infants are well, but Padma requires more blood, which the GSW ran out of and left them with only two units of when they actually need four. Padma is saved after surgery by Leela, who also stopped the bleeding. AJ holds his sons.
