As John and Bailey deal with problems before their wedding in the 100th episode of “The Rookie,” Tim (Eric Winter) finds a creative way to show Lucy (Melissa O’Neil) how to talk to someone in a healthy way. After they had a disagreement about Lucy’s possible future as an undercover agent, Tim planned a surprise for her at the police station. Tim is hooked up to a polygraph machine in the questioning room when Lucy gets there.
Tim says that he wants to show Lucy that he will always be there for her. Tim is given the chance by Lucy, who asks him many things, such as whether he loves her and wants her to become an undercover agent. Tim answers “yes” to both questions with confidence, but the lie detector shows that he is lying about the second one.
Even though the truth comes out, the pair dances together at John and Bailey’s wedding and ends up getting back together. Tim tells Lucy that he is still dealing with stress from the time his ex-wife was working as a spy, but he tells her that her dreams shouldn’t be affected by his problems. Lucy tells Tim again that she loves him, and the two of them promise to work through their problems together.
Showrunner Alexi Hawley said the scene was meant to add a fun twist to Lucy and Tim’s friendship while also showing how they’ve grown and adding a new problem. Melissa O’Neil, who plays Lucy, thought the scene was cute and praised how everyone worked together on set, especially with Hawley directing.

On the other hand, the episode also shows Thorsen (True Valentino) having a hard time after suffering a traumatic event. He doesn’t tell the LAPD shrink about his troubling thoughts, and he thinks that his relationship with Celina (Mekia Cox) is romantic when it’s not. Thorsen tries to kiss Celina at the wedding dinner, but she turns him down, which makes him drunk.
Horrible things happen because of Thorsen’s actions when heroin sellers take Celina. Hawley said that Thorsen’s actions are part of his recovery and hinted at what might happen next as he deals with his mental health and his return to duty.
Overall, the 100th episode of “The Rookie” shows how complicated relationships can be and how hard it is for the characters. It gives the show more depth as it hits a major milestone.
