What makes The Simpsons season 33 episode 17 so special?
The Sound of Bleeding Gums, the upcoming episode, will star actor John Autry II, who will voice a hearing-impaired character named Monk. It will also showcase the first time the show has used American Sign Language (ASL). Loni Steele Sosthand, whose brother was born deaf, wrote the episode. She said in an interview with Variety.
“When I think about music, I also think about my brother. When we were talking about this Bleeding Gums character in our initial brainstorms, we thought, wouldn’t it be cool if Lisa discovers this whole other side of his life. That led to him having a son, and then we based that character at least somewhat on my brother.”

Lisa became a member of a secret society of brilliant students at school who hide their intelligence in order to avoid being ridiculed for it. Meanwhile, Brandine concealed her love of reading at Marge’s book club, leading Cletus to believe he no longer knew her. He realises that his wife is actually quite intelligent, which causes him to doubt everything they have in common. After all of the commotion, Brandine decided to leave and move in with the Simpsons family. She doesn’t want to live with Cletus and her infinity of children any more. She meets with a marriage counsellor and explains her marital issues, leading Marge to believe that she could have done a better job than Homer. This motivates Homer to improve his marriage in order to keep it safe. After feeling homesick, Brandine returns home to her children and sees Cletus being supportive of her by purchasing a book to read.
