The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Episode 5 Recap

In episode 5 of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live,” fans’ favorite characters Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) gave viewers a break from the action. After the stressful events of the previous episode, in which they had to find their way through a dangerous smart house, Rick and Michonne went on the road, which gave fans a look at their relationship.

But peace doesn’t last long in a world overrun by zombies after the end of the world. The couple quickly finds themselves in a new fight, this time against thieves and an old enemy. This meeting has the ability to completely change their future, setting the stage for what looks like it will be an exciting season finale.

In addition to what was happening in the present, fans were also treated to flashbacks that showed more about a beloved character from the Dead-verse. Fans could better understand the character’s motivations and past through these flashbacks, which gave the show more depth. Here is a full recap of the episode:

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Episode 5 Recap

Rick and Michonne’s Journey:  Rick and Michonne are driving across the country in a yellow hybrid truck at the beginning of the episode. They are having a moment of peace and normalcy in the middle of all the chaos. They stop in Wyoming and find a stash of instant ramen and other goods. This shows that they can find happiness in small things even when things are bad.

Rick and Michonne’s trip looked like it would go well at first. They had a lovely ride to Alexandria and shared some private moments. When they found a stash of Ramen noodles and spent the night in a hut, it looked like their luck had reached its peak. They met a man named Red whose family was being attacked by zombies, but things turned bad when he tried to rob them. Red promised Rick and Michonne that he would not hurt any future good Samaritans after they turned the tables on him. Also, they got back the Ramen noodles that Michonne had given them.

Jadis’s Past and Present: In between the events of the present day were flashbacks to the times when Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) and Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam) met every year in the woods. Three years ago, Jadis was tortured by the things she had done in the past, and she knew that Alexandria was right to not trust her. Gabriel said he was sorry he had lost faith in her, though. Gabriel suggested to Alexandria two years ago that Jadis’ group help her, but she said no. Gabriel gave Jadis a ring a year ago to show that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Even though he tried, Jadis seemed to have lost faith in people.

At the present time, Jadis approached Rick and Michonne and told them that their sacrifice would protect Alexandria and make the world a better place for their children. A threat to kill Rick and Michonne to protect Alexandria from the CRM makes Jadis tie them up to a bed with zip ties. It’s possible for Rick and Michonne to get away from their chains and fight Jadis physically.

The End of Jadis: Rick and Michonne were able to get away, though, which started a tense car chase. Jadis set up a trap with Red’s family, which killed them tragically and led to a battle with Rick and Michonne. Michonne faked betraying Rick out of desperation, which made Jadis think she had the upper hand. But all of a sudden, silent walkers struck, biting Jadis and showing that she had lied.

When Jadis realized she had been tricked, she told Rick and Michonne that the information she had on Alexandria was in her room at Cascadia and begged them not to go after the CRM. Michonne promised to destroy the CRM with Rick’s help, even though she begged her not to. Before she died, Jadis felt bad that she didn’t have a more important life. She gave Rick the ring Gabriel had meant for him and Michonne.

In this episode, Rick and Michonne have to make a decision that could have huge effects on their future and the future of their town. This sets the stage for a very dramatic ending.
