The Way Home Season 2 Episode 9 Recap – The Penultimate Episode – Secrets and Heartfelt Goodbyes

Fans have been waiting a long time for “The Way Home” to finally solve the long-standing puzzle of Kat and Del’s 17-year silence, and it’s not what they might have expected from Lingermore.

The episode starts with what happened after the event in 2007. Teenage Elliot feels terrible about hurting Kat, but Kat, who is in the hospital with a head injury, doesn’t know what Elliot is talking about with Alice. Still, she gets some shocking news: she’s pregnant. Brady asks Kat to marry him right then, and she says yes, choosing their life together over her plans to leave with Elliot.

When Kat goes back to the Landry farm, she runs into Elliot but doesn’t talk about their past. When she tries to tell Del that she is pregnant, things get worse. Del turns down Brady’s parents’ offer of money because he feels cheated by Kat’s choice to stay with Brady. During an argument, Kat says she is leaving, taking a piece of their late father Jacob with her.

Nick, meanwhile, wants to know why no one noticed that Alice, Kat’s daughter, is the same Alice from Kat’s past. Nick is annoyed by Elliot’s unclear explanation about how memories fit into our life stories. In this episode, Elliot and Nick make up, which forces Nick and Alice to have an awkward but important talk.

In the 1814 reality, Kat finds out that Jacob isn’t in the almanac because Thomas made a deal with Cyrus Goodwin to keep Jacob alive. Elijah tells them about Jacob’s role in their lives, which explains why Rebecca hid Jacob’s past. Jacob still decides to stay in 1814 because he thinks he’ll get lost in the present.

Susanna tells Kat she loves Jacob as Kat is getting ready to leave, but the pond keeps her from ever joining Kat again. Kat says goodbye to Thomas and thanks him for keeping Jacob safe. She leaves with a sad heart because she knows how much she loves Elliot.

In her past life, Kat and Elliot share a moment where Kat tells him how she used to feel about him. He keeps his word and gives Kat his time travel book. Kat thinks about what to do next and comes back to the idea of stopping a tragedy from happening in the past. This gives the story a new direction.

Kat decides at the end of the show to go back to 1814 and say goodbye to Thomas. This sets the stage for a touching end to her time-traveling journey.
