The White Lotus Season 3 is nearing its conclusion, and with Episode 8, titled “Amor Fati,” the tension has reached a boiling point. The next-to-last episode left viewers with a web of lies, violence, and mental turmoil, preparing them for a dramatic and possibly deadly ending. As the last chapter comes to a close, there are still a lot of questions: Who will make it through the chaos at the resort in Koh Samui? Who was shot, as hinted at in the cold open of the season? And how will all of the different, unstable stories reach their climax?
A LOOK BACK AT THE PENULTIMATE EPISODE
The penultimate episode of Season 3 was a scary and dark hour full of threats, betrayals, and hints of impending danger. Rick (Walton Goggins), who had to face the man who killed his father, struggled with his past and decided not to get violent revenge. But his journey wasn’t over yet. He and Frank (Sam Rockwell), who was also drinking, continued to deal with their problems.
As a result of losing all of his money and being shamed, Timothy Ratliff (Jason Isaacs) fell into a deep depression. His disturbing fantasy of taking his own life—and possibly his family’s—loomed large, making him a prime candidate for a tragic ending.
Meanwhile, Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) discovered that the armed robbery at the hotel was orchestrated by the Russians, setting him on a path toward retribution. At a Muay Thai boxing match, he spotted Valentin (Arnas Fedaravičius) and his associates Vlad (Yuri Kolokolnikov) and Aleksei (Julian Kostov), confirming his suspicions.
Greg/Gary (Jon Gries), who is always trying to get what he wants, threw a fancy party that drew a lot of people into his circle. Things got worse between him and Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon), his sugar baby, especially after he made an awkward proposal to Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger). More importantly, he attempted to bribe Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) with $100,000 to keep silent about his activities. However, as Belinda soon realized, she had become a “problem” that needed to be dealt with—a realization that put both her and her son, Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), in grave danger.
By the episode’s end, Timothy realized that his stolen gun had been taken by Gaitok, adding yet another layer of uncertainty to the approaching finale.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE WHITE LOTUS [S03E07] “AMOR FATI”
1. A Reckoning for Timothy Ratliff: Timothy has been going up and down the drain for days. His crazy behavior has reached new levels, and he could either kill someone or be killed himself. The “suicide tree” that was mentioned in the season trailer could be a sign of what will happen to him, but it remains to be seen if he kills someone by himself or with someone else.
2. Gaitok’s Retribution:: Gaitok now has Timothy’s stolen gun because he knows for sure that the Russians were behind the theft. No matter if he wants justice or revenge, what he did could lead to a deadly fight at the hotel.
3. Belinda’s Desperate Move: Belinda has to make a choice between Greg/Gary’s threats and her own need to stay alive. What will she do? Will she try to get away with her son, or will she stand up to one of the most dangerous men at The White Lotus?
4. Rick and Frank’s Return: Rick and Frank could get into a dangerous situation when they get back to the resort because they are drunk and careless. Since Rick broke into Jim Hollinger’s (Scott Glenn) house earlier, security may be on high alert when they arrive, which could explain the gunshots heard at the beginning of the season.
5. A Shocking Death (or Deaths): The biggest mystery remains: who will die? With multiple characters in precarious positions, the possibilities are endless. Could it be Timothy, finally succumbing to his downward spiral? Could Gaitok’s plan to get even fail? Or will Greg or Gary kill Belinda before she can tell anyone about him?
