TRACKER (THE MERCY SEAT) SEASON 2 EPISODE 16 RECAP

Tracker Season 2 Episode 16 Recap: In this chilling episode of Tracker, the wilderness holds more than just snowy trails and scenic views. Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) finds himself deep in a mystery that uncovers a horrifying secret hidden within the mountains. As the episode begins, we find Colter searching for a missing man named Roger, but the deeper he goes into the wilderness, the more it becomes clear—something is very wrong. And this time, it’s not just about tracking someone down; it’s about surviving a dangerous web of lies, deception, and a deranged cult.

TRACKER SEASON 2 EPISODE 16 RECAP

The episode opens with Colter arriving in a remote mountain town where two girls, Shelly (guest star) and Brianna (guest star), have reported their friend Roger missing. They were all supposed to enjoy a quiet winter retreat, but when Roger wandered off and didn’t return, the girls reached out for help. Colter, always up for a challenge, takes the case. But from the start, this one feels different.

Colter’s first clue comes when he meets a group of young adults living in a nearby cabin. They claim to be on a “digital detox,” cut off from the world, enjoying nature and freedom. But something about them feels off. They’re too polished, too rehearsed. Their friendliness seems forced. Yet Colter leaves Shelly and Brianna in their care while he heads out to find Roger.

Soon, Colter finds Roger deep in the woods—alive but injured. He’s been caught in a tripwire and is bleeding badly. Before they can return to safety, someone starts shooting at them. They barely make it back to the cabin. But when they arrive, the girls and the mysterious group are gone, along with the only working snowmobile.

Colter quickly realizes they’ve been played. Searching the cabin, he discovers photographs hidden in a drawer—photos of a different family entirely. He heads to a shed out back and makes a horrifying discovery: the real owners of the cabin have been murdered. The strangers who claimed to live there? Impostors.

Tracker (Exodus) Recap: Season 2 Episode 14 Explained!

Meanwhile, Reenie (Fiona Rene) gets a call from Cousin Randy (Chris Lee), who’s been tracking Colter’s whereabouts with Bobby (Eric Graise). Randy expresses concern about the location Colter’s in, known locally as the “dead zone”—an area where many hikers have mysteriously gone missing. It turns out that Shelly and Brianna weren’t just there for fun. They were making a documentary about a missing nature photographer and may have stumbled into something they weren’t prepared for.

Colter manages to fix the snowmobile and leaves Roger behind to look for the girls. His search leads him to Gray Hollow Lodge—a surprisingly large and eerie structure for such a remote setting. There, he finds Amelia (guest star), who reveals a horrifying truth. She was kidnapped by the lodge’s residents years ago and has been trapped ever since. Brianna is also there, clearly traumatized and brainwashed. She warns Colter about “Father Eamon.”

Father Eamon (Sean Bridgers) is a religious zealot who rules over the lodge with a twisted sense of morality. He is the one who wore antlers and lurked in the woods. As Colter radios for help, Amelia agrees to go back inside and pretend everything is normal to buy him time.

Tracker s2e16 Leo Sharf

While all of this is unfolding, Reenie meets with Leo Sharf (Pej Vahdat), who wants her help in taking down a corrupt former partner named Grimes. Francie (Kaylah Zander), Leo’s associate, is connected to Reenie’s boyfriend Elliott (Michael Rady), which makes things even more complicated. Leo is secretive, but persuasive. And when Reenie gets word from Randy and Bobby that Colter is in serious danger, she asks Leo for help. He offers a helicopter—and now Reenie owes him a favor.

Back at the lodge, things take a terrifying turn. Eamon plays “Shambala” by Three Dog Night and demands the use of the “mercy seat,” a symbolic wooden chair used for twisted punishment. He leaves a concussed Shelly at the table and forces Brianna into the chair. With the help of his followers, Rufus and Dash, Eamon starts to strangle Brianna with a scarf.

But Colter, who had radioed his SOS earlier, makes his move. He sneaks into the lodge and finds Amelia, Shelly, and Brianna. As Eamon continues his ritual, Brianna reveals a hidden fork under her napkin and uses it to stab Rufus. In the chaos, Colter shoots both Dash and Eamon, putting an end to the madness.

The girls are finally free. Colter not only rescues Shelly and Brianna but also saves Amelia, who’s been held captive for nearly a decade. Despite some risky decisions—like leaving the girls with the impostor family—Colter ultimately unravels the terrifying truth behind the missing photographer, the “digital detox” group, and the “dead zone.”

In the end, the episode reminds us that even in the vast wilderness, human darkness can hide in plain sight. And while Colter might walk alone, he’s never without the will to do what’s right—even if it means facing down a deadly cult in the middle of nowhere.
