According to NBC News, Donald Trump has won the six Electoral College votes in Iowa, guaranteeing him victory. The former president did very well in this win in a state that has been moving toward the Republican Party over the past few years.

Trump beat Joe Biden in Iowa by a vote of 53% to 45% in the 2020 election. His victory was similar to his performance in 2016 when he beat Hillary Clinton with 52% of the vote to 42%.

Iowa has always been seen as a battleground state and Democrats have won every presidential election there since 1988 with — George W. Bush‘s win in 2004 being the only exception. But since Trump’s victory in 2016, Iowa has firmly moved toward the Republicans, and recent elections haven’t shown much sign of it being a close race.

This outcome shows how Iowa’s politics are changing. The state is leaning more and more toward Republicans in presidential races. With this, the state’s six electoral votes are now firmly behind Trump in his race for president.
