Poppy begins recording her podcast and claiming that Micah has mastered the art of deception. She mentions Holt, a suspect, and Micah’s boyfriend, and explains that he is a suspect and Micah’s lover. Holt is concerned about Rose’s medication, while Rose is concerned about the consequences of telling the truth. Micah is in her office, pondering to herself when Ivy steps in and tells her that HR is inundated with resignations. Micah, on the other hand, appears unconcerned; she doesn’t want anyone to lose faith in her. Three sponsors have put their deals on hold. Micah is adamant that she will never leave him.
As the inquiry into Micah continues, we get a flashback of Poppy as a child with her abusive alcoholic father. Micah, a small boy, was there to assist her when her mother’s neck was burned and needed to be soothed with water. Poppy recalls an incident from 2017 in which a young Micah and Rose both wind up at the police station at the same time. Micah tries to make peace negotiations in the current day. She calls Poppy and tells her she misses her and wants to chat in person. Poppy informs her that she lied and she wants to rectify things. Micah explains that she was afraid and mentions Poppy’s habit of lying. Poppy, not to be outdone, inquires about Rose, who Micah explains was homeless on the street with Holt. The debate swiftly devolves into darkness. Micah answers by claiming Poppy could easily wreck her life because she knows so much about her. Poppy tells Micah she loves her but doesn’t trust her. Ouch.
Poppy discusses how Rose met Joshua a few months before his death. She requests that Rose contact her. Micah, meantime, puts out a hit piece against Poppy’s family, including information about her father and the neighborhood. Cydie is enraged by Micah’s personal attacks as she drives to Shelter. She also informs Markus that working with Micah demonstrates that he consistently takes the incorrect path. In the episode’s last scenes, Poppy receives a call from Rose, who informs her that she is aware that Poppy is seeking her. When they get to Holt’s house, it appears to be deserted.
